Demand for the note is not high.

Very few will choose to spend that much on a phone.

Samsungs and other manufacturers lower end phones will sell in much, much larger numbers.
Huh? The WSJ just said that the Note 7 preorders outpaced the Note 5 preorders before it by 20%...That's pretty high demand

The everyday batter life is what scares me a bit. People that haven't used one of the plus iphones. Dont really understand how crazy that battery is.

I currently have the 6 plus and, for me, the battery life in the last year has really sucked big time.

I think the rumors for the next iPhone are helping to convert some folks to the Note.

I'm living proof of this. No headphone jack? Releasing what is effectively a 6SS? No thanks, I'll do Android for a year. I've always wanted to check out the Notes. The Note 4 with it's faux-leather back was what sparked my interest, actually. Wish I could find a similar case for this one.

I'd guess because the note 5 was a relative flop, and the s7 and s7 edge are highly regarded.
????? The Note 5 was one of the best selling phones.

I believe last year it was possible to get a Note 5 on AT&T for about $750 so we are talking a jump there. Granted the memory was probably 32GB but it was the option at the time but it was still the choice to get into a Note cheap. And the Note 4 was cheaper depending on carrier when it came out. The Chinese Note 7 6GB ram phone is $1000?! I think I can understand why they're not bringing it here because how many will pay 1K for a Samsung?

For me there is a level where I feel it's too much for "a phone/smartphone."

I'm also a leftover from the subsidized phone pricing days. From iPhone 1, 3gs, 4s, (I just remember I think I paid $300 for the Nexus 4), LG G2 I have never paid more the $199 for a premium phone. I had a G3 last year but was a gift of sorts. Now with the G3 dead and using an iPhone 6 as a loaner, I have accepted that I will have to pay full price for my next phone. I was going to go with One+3 and then ZTE 7 for $400. I mean you can get flagship specs and performance at $400 and not pay S7 Edge prices.

But the Note 7 really got my attention. In past I hate phablets but it's actually dimensionally close to those just mentioned and smaller than the 6 Plus where I thought I could get it with my BB store card and if I paid 12-16 months 0% I could forget the fact it was $850 lol.

Fortunately I just found out a workaround yesterday... Company I work with has AT&T business accounts and they still offer subsidized pricing when we upgrade the work phones and boss is willing to let me use an upgrade and I pay the upgrade price So I can probably get a iPhone 6s or LG G5 for $199... but the Note 7 will only cost me $600 this way so I think I will most likely treat myself to a Note 7.

That's iPhone 6 Plus territory if I had to pay full price so I will can accept that.

I think there are probably many like me that don't go through phones so often like many on forums and are having to deal with full price phones. I don't like the next contracts and don't want to lose my unlimited data too.

I don't quite understand the surprise at the cost of this phone. Last year I got the 64gb Note 5 on ATT and it was more than $850.

Don't like BT headsets? I don't mind if they get rid of the jack and ready to go BT. I run about 12 miles a week. ran marathons use BT and I'm done with cords. Be cool if the second set of holes are for a second speaker. Not liking the reviews saying the Note 7 speaker is on the average side of performance.

I see a lot of people with Note devices, mostly Note 4's and Note 5's now. I ask them what do you love most about your Note device. The most common answer I get is "I love the large bright display". This is coming from the average consumer who don't even use the S Pen. The Note series does have the best large display in the market, IMO. Carriers up in Canada always promotes the Note series and people buy them. There's more Samsung users in my area than iPhone users.
But I have been seeing a lot of iPhone users switch over to Android. Also, I think the leaks of the iPhone 7 is also contributing to high demand of the Note 7.

Just wondering, could the high demand is artificial generated by Samsung itself?
    Otherwise, Samsung under-estimated the demand?
Just what I was thinking, don't get me wrong, I will get the phone, but I'm prepared to wait until all the fuss has died down, check out the colour options in person, then buy!

That is where I am at, I get a new phone every 2 years, my last one was the 128gb iPhone 6+, I use the head phone jack everyday in my car so I "need" one. I passed my 6+ down to my son and I have a Black Note 7 on preorder.
Beyond the headphone jack I am looking forward to trying a new phone OS

My issue isn't that "I don't like BT headsets." I do. It's just I know how Apple is. They won't bundle a bluetooth headset. And even if they do, that's another thing I have to worry about charging every night. Apple also won't bundle in the iPhone 7 box a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter for current headphones, obviously, leading to a lovely $25 later purchase of the adapter because Apple is Apple. Then, how the f**k am I supposed to listen to music and charge at the same time?????? A f**king lightning dongle?

All this for just one extra hour of battery life if even. I'm not interested in being the guinea pig. I'll get the iPhone 8 but not the 7.

Even though the reviews aren't really in, there has not been one video or article that has said anything negative about this phone. It's beautiful, people have noticed, Apple has been stuck in the mud, and it has raised the bar on what a flagship truly is.

The only negative I seen in the reviews. Is that it is a fingerprint magnet

I've been trying to wonder why the demand is so high for it.
Like some others have said I don't believe that demand is as high as some people try to make it out to be. Samsung, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc haven't released any USA pre-order numbers. The only number floating around on the net are supposed pre-order numbers for South Korea. There have been many times when Korean companies have "announced" record setting pre-order numbers in South Korea only to have far lower actual purchases when true sales numbers come out.

What's crazy is that rumors for the 2017 iPhone tenth anniversary seem to be features that are in the Note 7. I'm an iPhone fan but that is ridiculous. And if they put speaker holes on the other side without adding an actual speaker that just annoys me...

Not everyone can upgrade every year. Two years is still more like it for a lot of people. The Note 5 didn't offer that much of a reason to upgrade over the Note 4 anyway. So now there is pent up demand. I think the whole not releasing the Note 5 in Europe is a big factor too. All those people who wanted to stay with a note, weren't given the chance to upgrade until now.

I think it has to do with many Note 4 users who didn't want the 5 due to no SD/Removable battery are finally making the jump. My wife's Note 4 was an amazing phone, but it is on it's last legs. We submitted an insurance claim this fall with Square Trade and they didn't have any to replace it with. Tells me a lot of folks were holding onto the 4 for dear life. With the SD card back, folks are more apt to upgrade IMO

Would guess Samsung would save that announcement to make news during the week Apple announces their iphone details in Sept.
Am hoping they do release it. But have the Galaxy S7 carrier unlocked versions had their update issues resolved yet?

I can't imagine that most people actually pay full price for the phone. I would say most use a subsidized upgrade to purchase the phone for $350 as opposed to $850.
