Well, I thought I'd add a bit here.

I had a Galaxy S3 and also used a Note 3 plus S5 for a bit. I'll be honest, those were the days when TouchWiz was legitimately bad in my experience. It was bloated and performance became a huge issue over time with some of those phones. Of course, that's just my experience, but it did feel that way.

The software on the S6 was a bit of a revelation to me. While it didn't look much different, quite a bit of stuff deemed unnecessary were removed and the experience felt cleaner as a whole. Over time, I've been slowly seeing that ethos being applied to every successor. For instance, my Note doesn't have Samsung's music player. The default music player is Google Play Music. Of course, there's still some Samsung dupe apps, but it's nice to see that there's less of them now and how they're optional downloads if you need them.

To me, TouchWiz now has come a long way. Obviously, it's not perfect (like everything) and there's still a bunch of things they could still do to further improve the user-experience. But this has been a much-improved experience from the last time I properly used a Samsung and I hope they don't stop improving the experience.

As a side note, my favorite OEM skin is still HTC Sense, but TW is no longer in my list of super-awful skins. It has graduated a year ago.
I agree that they have definitely come a long way, but instead of making useless apps like Samsung pay (basically a duplicate of Android pay), they need to focus on their software. They also need to stop making a gazillion different devices so stop fragmentation.

Samsung Pay is not a duplicate of Android Pay at all.

They can develop apps and software, they are a multi-level corporation.

I agree about Android Central app being a mess. I have to re-log in every time I open it, it never takes me to the last post I've read any more (always goes to first post on first page), and often it won't let me post even when I have logged in.
    THIS. So annoying.

I've been saying something similar for the past couple years. iOS is slow to adopt new features and people say they don't innovate. I don't believe that at all! I believe Apple innovates in ways a person would never see. It's not a bunch of new features, it's perfecting what's underneath. Sure, it's not as flashy as a million new features every year but the kinds of under the hood improvements they make are ingenious nonetheless.
I think there is merit to that, but it seems more and more true that their pace of innovation has slowed. I'd say to a large extent it is true of the space. Not sure what is coming next, but I don't see a true Next Big Thing on the horizon . . .

Samsung Pay is vastly superior to Android Pay, because Samsung Pay supports MST, and therefore works with almost any card-swipe reader. Android Pay (like Apple Pay) doesn't work with swipe readers and requires an explicit arrangement with the vendor in order to work at all.

What? Samsung Pay is the most advanced mobile payment system available. Clearly out paces Android Pay and Apple Pay.

Apps that are useless to you are likely not useless for everybody. Looking at the scoreboard (devices sold), I'd say Samsung's model is working pretty well, and mass consumers like the offering.

People that are tech heads and benchmark geeks (said with affection!) just are not targets for Samsung (judging on their marketing strategy).

Zero lag issues but the again I don't feel the need to have 200 apps installed at all times. Also,it may just be a case of your device updating apps in the background causing the lag. Try going into airplane mode and see of the lag still persist.
I have 161 apps and no lag that isn't attributable to the app itself due to splash screen etc. I am not using an sd card and I have a hunch sd card may slow it down...but I have no actual tech knowledge. None. LOL

Samsung Pay is vastly different from Android Pay, though, as it supports MST, meaning that it can be used in a lot more places, even without NFC terminals, provided that your card is supported.

Android Pay is NFC-only, so its reach is limited.

Very true. I loved Google Wallet, then Android Pay, but I really wanted Samsung Pay because it is significantly more usable. They have accomplished what neither Google nor Apple could.

Right, because Samsung bought Loop Pay, who had the technology.

Folks, there are reasons (to this point) why Apple left the iPhones at FHD for displays: Battery life and performance (Apple stated that and not my conjecture). If you change the the Note 7 to FHD, it performs faster than with QHD and the battery life lasts iPhone 6+ level. Even at FHD, my N7 still looks better than my son's iPhone due to the better contrast.
Most of the benchmarks are tech funny, since compare a device that is pushing half the pixels. The impact to the GPU, cache, app and memory management is huge.

Question... how good is Samsung with software updates? Cause they do get firmware updates right? And some apps like AOD get updates right? Hopefully whatever issues people are having now like lag, etc... that they send updates regularly in hopes of resolving some issues like these.

When I had my LG G2 and G3... I don't remember ever getting software updates from the manufacturer or LG ever updating any of their apps. Don't know if it was even possible. I believe you just had to except when you got a new phone with the latest OS you were pretty much stuck with what you had until you got the next OS upgrade a year later.

That is one of my concerns about getting the Note 7 after using an iPhone for most of this year... I do like that Apple is able to and has been sending out updates all year. They don't just release iOS9 and then stuck with bugs until iOS10 and not at the mercy of the carriers to release it while have to live with bugs that could have been fixed months ago. iOS 9.3.5 just came out today with about a month before iOS 10 due for release.

Sorry to say, you must be in complete denial. Everyone knows Samsung's TouchWiz was even more horrendous prior to the s7.
Everyone? I must have missed the memo or someone forgot to tell my Note 2, 3 ,4 and 7 that everyone knows they are horrendous.

I'm still not seeing it take me to my previous post in the thread. It used to be that if I had read to post #123, the next time I logged in it would take me back there. Now it's only taking me to the first post of the first page.

I've watch a bunch of Galaxy reviews and haven't seen any lag. Only Flossy Carter's review mentions lag and he said that it is just occasional and definitely not "unbearable".
Then you don't know what lag is

Ensure to post any bugs in here - Site Feedback & Help - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com. This way James can get the devs involved to know the issues .

I don't. I know that makes me a "fanboi" and whatnot, but I don't have the horrible lag. I have had maybe two brief hangups since I got the device, but it's been great otherwise.
