- Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy are horribly laggy compared to my iPhone 6S...It's kind of embarrassing. Other than that, there's lag here and there but I'm hoping Samsung pushes out improvements soon in updates.08-23-2016 09:58 PMLike 0
- Some devices get laggy due to an app misbehaving. Some just have poor resource management. I don't know what the OP is experiencing, it may be possible for some people to help troubleshoot. But also could be a lemon or it could be Samsung has no idea how to make phones. I mean other than making more than everyone else combined, they just can't figure out optimization. I don't personally believe they're ignorant, so either they didn't anticipate some peculiar app or something else is going on. Hard to tell without any information.jordans0nly likes this.08-23-2016 10:01 PMLike 1
- I have a Verizon N7 and also have an MXPE. Not seeing the lag that was not similar to the MXPE- Android is what it is. Both are good / fast devices with 40GB of apps.jordans0nly likes this.08-23-2016 10:08 PMLike 1
- I do find it interesting that there are so many lag reports with this device, while there were very few with the S7 / S7 Edge. This leads me to believe it may be a software issue, which hopefully can be improved with an update.
It's something that can happen anywhere, including ...um...Android Central. I downloaded the forums app and now I don't have any problems.
Back to the topic at hand. I have had this phone since Friday night and have been constantly on it and setting it up since then. All week I have been streaming Sirius Radio and making and receiving phone calls, text messages and emails. I have also not restarted my phone in a week and there is little to no lag.08-23-2016 10:37 PMLike 0 -
As far as lag, I must be lucky or just don't notice it. No noticeable lag on my S7E (had it since release), and so far so good on my Note. That being said, my GS5 was HORRIBLE!!. I attributed it to Lollipop and quietly moved back to Windows Phone. At the time, lack of apps was not as irritating as the lag lol08-23-2016 10:37 PMLike 0 - Sorry to stay off topic but if you can add here and or try the fix this person found, don't want you to have to deal with that.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sho...d.php?t=71248708-23-2016 10:38 PMLike 0 - There's a thread on this in the Site Discussion forum. James said they would take a look at it.

Unless everyone is experiencing this, it's an issue with his phone/carrier08-23-2016 10:49 PMLike 0 - All,
Been lurking through this forum and the xda forums. I also have been experiencing lag.
Was on the xda forums and someone mentioned changing the scaling from small to large. Not sure if it's a placebo effect, but the phone does seem snappier. Will test more tomorrow. But for the lag users, try changing the scale from small to large. See if that helps.08-23-2016 11:07 PMLike 0 - Android is not laggy. Samsung and LG skins can lag without the proper optimization. TouchWiz has all sorts of animations running in the background that can slow the experience. I highly encourage people to enable developer options and turn down or off animations.
My S7 Edge runs very smoothly. What I'm tired of are arrogant people trying to tell me what I'm experiencing.08-23-2016 11:11 PMLike 0 -
So far changing the scaling from small to large, I see a difference.08-23-2016 11:16 PMLike 2 - I'm convinced there's people who log onto these forums every year for the Galaxy launches and claim this. Wouldn't be a launch without it. I must be the luckiest guy in the world because after the following: S3, Note, S4, Note 2, S5, Note 3, S6 Edge, Note 4, S7/S7 Edge, and now Note 7, I haven't come close to experiencing these "unfreakingbelieveable" lag fests.

They make this $900 phone look like a huge rip-off.
Maybe you have had great luck but you list ALL Samsung devices. How can you have an objective opinion?

- I thought I'd share my thoughts on this.
First, let me start by saying that no. My Note7 is not invincible to lag. ALL phones lag at some point. Even my iPad Pro lags at times.
However, I will say that so far, my Note7 has been performing quite well. Is it as fast as a Nexus or an iPhone? Of course not, but I do appreciate the extra features that my Note provides, such as the S Pen features, resizable windows and more, which I feel are worth trading a couple of milliseconds of app launch times for.
That said, it's not perfect. SwiftKey lags horribly. It takes about a second or two for some keys to register at times when you type fast. Weirdly, the stock keyboard is perfectly fine, and I did notice that SwiftKey did lag a bit on my old HTC One M7 running a GPe ROM, so I'm not blaming TW......yet.
So far, though, my current Samsung experience has been a refreshing one since ditching them back in 2013 for the HTC One M7 due to the horrendous state of TouchWiz at the time. I haven't experienced serious frame stutters nor did I feel that I was missing a beat after switching back and forth from my iPad Pro to my Note7.
In the end, it comes down to this. Do you prioritize speed and don't care about the extras? Go Nexus or iPhone. If you want features and more capabilities at the cost of a bit of snappiness, go with a Samsung or any other skinned Android device. In an ideal world, there would be a phone that's as fast as a Nexus or an iPhone while also filled to the absolute brim with features like a Samsung, but that hasn't cropped up yet, and likely won't for a while.
For the record, my unit is an SM-N930F variant, running on an Exynos 8890 with 4GB of RAM, running a different-ish build of the software on the August 1st security patch.08-23-2016 11:26 PMLike 5 - Or maybe you have never tried a light ROM or Apple?

Samsung is never boring. There is so much more that goes into a great phone than how vanilla it is.
A phone cam run like a dream. But if it bores me to tears after two weeks, what good is it, really?
And I wish people would drop the price point nonsense. I'll pay top dollar for the phone I want.08-23-2016 11:27 PMLike 2 - Or maybe you have never tried a light ROM or Apple?

Everyone has their own needs, wants and demands from a phone, and also different expectations from user to user.
We all have our own opinions on a device, but in the end, there's bound to be a device that fits a particular user.
If ultra-snappy performance or a clean, vanilla experience is what you're looking for, the Note7 might not be the phone you're looking for. However, if you do use the S Pen a lot, and want a load of features, maybe give that a shot.08-23-2016 11:40 PMLike 5
