I've been a fan of Galaxy phones for years. I've just upgraded to a Galaxy Note 7 from a S5 Active (AT&T). Compared to the S5 the font/icons on the Note 7 Status Bar are very small and difficult to read, especially at a glance. I have searched for a fix but the only solutions I've found are to first root the device or add a customizable widget.

Is there a setting or other method to enlarge the Status Bar?

Hey Samsung! If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You can go to your Display Settings, into Content Scaling and select LARGE. But that will also make everything else in your phone (icons, text, etc.) larger. The Font sizing option only works for 'main' content, not the Notification bar.

Unfortunately Display Settings, Content Settings doesn't change the size of the status bar.

Ummm...it does on mine (T-Mobile version). Font doesn't, but content scaling does.
