Best Buy has Note 7 for 349$ with a 2 yr contract, I was surprised to see this since Verizon did away with these contracts.

Yup, that's how I got mine. I'm really glad they do because the stupid device plan still ends up being basically full cost, just spread out.

Yeah.. Current customers can upgrade into a 2 year contract. However new customers have to be porting a number into Verizon in order to do a 2 year contract.

Also if you do a 2 year, you normally miss out on the gift card and/or free accessories that may come with the device.

That is why I haven't given up my unlimited data plan.

Are you able to get the other freebees (256 gig card or Fit 2) on top of the $200 visa cash card?

You should be able to get one or the other since they are from Samsung. (Except for some exceptions like Best Buy where they are fulfilling the free gift)

    Cheers,

I bought mine through Verizonwireless . Com for $299.98 2 year contract... I've got an old unlimited data plan so maybe that's why i had the 2 year subsidized price option

It really is not any better since paying same total cost. The Verizon line rate off contract is $20 and doubles to $40 wth a new phone contract. That is $480 dollars plus the $350 and tax.

There are no more Best Buy deals, since the phone goes through to Verizon as a sale. Best Buy is hoping you buy accessories and warranties from them to drive their revenue from phone sales. This is the same with Verizon as well. Either way you pay all the cost.

Finally, someone that realized your per line cost is $40 (double) vs buying on payments and paying $20 per line per month.

There is nothing for free folks. These carries are getting their money out of your blood with contract our without. No doubt about that.

Yep, the "contract price" is literally designed to make people think they are getting a deal. It works well and will continue until the consumer base becomes aware.

Verizon has it for 299.99 I think maybe only older customers can see it. That's where I got mine. I got my wife's at Best Buy since she didn't want to wait Gear Fit 2. Best Buy price matched Verizon's price. So if you're thinking about getting it, or are still in your return period you should look into price matching.

I would argue that it is a respectable deal. $300 + (24*$20) = $780, which is less than the $850 or so.

I'm lucky, I'm on a corporate plan, so I keep my unlimited data without playing games, and they have even turned on my ability to hotspot, so no more need for FoxFi.

    And I love this phone . . .

I paid $8.56 to best buy and then $40 to Verizon for the upgrade fee. Note 7 < $50 + keeping Verizon unlimited data = win win win

So like $60 saving in 2 years? Hardly a deal.

better than full price, better than the payment plan. plus given the opportunity to give my money now vs. give it over time, i take over time, everytime. it is like an interest free loan -- you never, never say no to that.

Somehow you apparently pay the same price how it works out. Even if $60, you are then stuck on a two year contract. For essentially nothing over two years.

Same thing paying $36 a month with full price over two years. Interest free and no contract Line fee is $20 instead of $40.

On the recent plans, the line access charge increases by $15-25 when you go on contract for 2 years.

I am on the old nationwide plan and that one doesn't have a price increase when going on contract, so it makes sense for me to use the subsidized upgrade
