I just read that Samsung will likely announce their plans for this early next week. They are in talks with the US carriers on how to possibly handle the recall in the US as well as overseas.

That is because all note 7 uses the same battery I believe. Different chips for sure but many of the components used are the same. That is what I'm thinking.

Batteries are done in Vietnam and South Korea. Now I don't know about this contractor, if it is one location for them or more.

I have only used charging cable that came with phone and a Samsung wireless charger from att, once.

The amount of "News" on this is hilarious. Even the more known outlets are taking unknowns to apparent knowns. One media says Samsung says it is not the battery another says it is the battery. One says Korea and another says global. Whatever the case, Apple must be ROTFL right now. Samsung might have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Jeepers.

Well they are saying Korea, as in where they are manufactured. Everyone is linking the Yonhap article and adding their spin.

You Google exploding Samsung Note 7 phones.
Seems like 7 of them exploded
Not sure if any if them was in the U.S.

They you Google more and they say Samsung is globally going to do a recall.
And somehow reward their customers somehow.
Then you read more and it states they are still studying the situation.
Trying to figure out why what happened , happened.
Then you read there is probably not going to do a recall yet.
Then you read they are not stopping production on the Note 7.

Is somebody using faulty chargers, or something.

Wow.

How confusing
So far I haven't had any problems.

I think all news so far is speculation on where/what is going on, whether its global or not. Until I hear from Samsung or att, then I will believe what's going on.
Media sometimes make it into more then it is.
Just saying.
Don't think anyone knows for sure what's going on or how bad, if our phones haven't blown up yet.
Just my opinion.

Looks like mine was made 8/10/2016 and was made in Korea, so I am high alert and have a 24 hr watch on the phone. The wife and kids are not happy, but hey they can sleep with this crisis is over.

How does one find out where our device was made??

It's on the end of the box or you can look for the "Samsung INFO" app in Google play.

My silver Sprint model was made in China. However, it seems to be an issue with where the battery was manufactured, and even some of the phones made in China used batteries from Korea. So, I think we'll just have to wait and see.

It also says where it was made on the back of the phone, on the bottom. I know that's a low tech way of finding out, but, there you go...

Gizmodo cites an unnamed Samsung Source who claims that recall details will be announced tomorrow morning.

It's 5 am in seoul so we should hear something in the next 6 hrs if we are going to.

They may send new battery and up to us to take it to be put in.
At this point nobody knows.
But if phone catching on fire. Then a different thing all together.

In the US, that isn't feasible. The closest walk in center to me was 2 hours away. They closed. Now the closest one to me is 700 miles.

Only a few days left in my 14 day return window. :-\

I've been charging my Note 7 about 99.9% of the time with the wireless charger.

Maybe I better get out the cable and wall charger and make sure my Note 7 doesn't blow up?

Isn't today the last day in the return window if you received the phone on the 19th? Assuming 14 day return policy.

If there is an issue with US phones, I'm thinking that return frame will not be just 14 days

Me, 99.9% wireless. Only used the wall charger the first time I charged the phone.
