Here is a screen shot of a chat session I had with Samsung.. I'm gonna wait until replacements are available..

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Sravanthi K'. The reference number for this chat is 4325517951. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.
Sravanthi K: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung Technical Support. How may I assist you?
James : How will the exchange process work for Note7 owners? Are you mailing us new phones first then we return ours via mail?
Sravanthi K: Hello James, I will hep you with complete information related to recall.
James : I bought mine at a Best Buy Mobile and would prefer not to deal with them anymore..
Sravanthi K: Your safety is our number one priority. There have been a small number of reported issues with the Note7 battery which represent a tiny fraction of the high volume of devices that we have sold. After a thorough investigation, we have launched a U.S. Product Exchange Program for Note7 owners in which we are offering you the opportunity to exchange your Note7 for a Galaxy S7, a Galaxy S7edge or a new Note7 (available next week).
Sravanthi K: you have to contact the place of purchase for the replacement.
James : I would prefer to wait until next week, Is this something that will be handled through suppliers?(AT&T, Best Buy Mobile?)
James : Will Note7 owners be notified of when they can exchange them for a new Note7?
Sravanthi K: We have information like they will get the replacement where they bought.
Sravanthi K: We have the information like in coming week they will exchange.
James : ok, so is it safe to continue use of the Note7 until the replacement is available?
Sravanthi K: Yes, James. You can use the phone with confidence.
James : ok thats fine with me, I will wait until the replacements are available..
Sravanthi K: the issue is not reported with US versions as US versions come with Snapdragon processor which is different from International versions.
Sravanthi K: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
James : Ok great.. thank you
Sravanthi K: Have a great day!
Sravanthi K: Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support, we appreciate your business. If you ever need to contact us in the future, please save and reference this chat transcript ID 4325517951. Please provide us with your feedback, so we may serve you better by clicking on the blue “X” button to receive the transcript of your chat and fill out a brief survey. Have a great day!

It would be nice if that info could be verified. It would be nice to see if this issue is in fact only international models sans snapdragon SoC.

I'm still trading mine in for a new Note regardless. Even though mine is fine, no one will take it for a trade in device due to it being recalled. If I'm offered a brand new unit then why not jump on it? If they drag their feet releasing the new units I will simply go swap it for a V20 since it will be out before the Tmobile deadline to return the device.

This was reported on local Las Vegas news on September 1st. If this report is accurate thats at least one reported issue within the United States. Exploding cellphone terrifies Las Vegas woman - FOX5 Vegas - KVVU

I find two things suspicious about this story -

    1) It sounds like the phone was being suffocated in the bed, you shouldn't cover phones up when they are charging.

    2) Notice how the anchors are using Apple products? I'll leave it at that.

Not denying this didn't happen, but it seems like a predictable accident being made into a big deal.

Guys this is a safety issue, please do not deny it.

The people that are in the business of selling phones not exchanging phones want to exchange your phone.

That should end all questions about needing to exchange it or if there is a real danger.

It is all models. The maker of the actual product informed us it is all models.

    I think they would know.
