So, another Note7 has meet a fiery demise full of lithium and chemicals.

This particular case happened in Australia, the first case in the country.

To quote the user, named "Crushader",

"My brand new Note 7 exploded this morning while I was still asleep, it was plugged in and charging.Phone completely fried, I can't eject the sim tray to retreive my sim or the SD card. I was using original charger and cable if you are wondering. Charred the hotel room bed sheet and the carpet when I whacked it down to the floor, burnt one of my finger while doing that too.
This is unfortunate as I am on a business trip in Perth and Brisbane (I'm from Melb), have managed to contact Samsung and they have opened a case for me and will get me a loan device here at one of their Samsung store in Perth.
From what I understand, this is the first case in Australia.
Please do not use the phone anymore, it is dangerous and not worth the risk. I knew of the recall and lodged my application with Samsung as soon as they announced officially on Friday, and now 3 days later it has happened to me."

At this point, I would recommend that folks stop using their Note7 ASAP and either grab a backup phone or contact their carrier for a loaner.

Re: First Australian Note 7 Fire

I have made the mistake of keeping my Note5 next to me in bed at night instead of on the night stand. I have rolled over it a few times and woken up with a very hot phone underneath me. I won't be making that mistake again.

Yeah that is scary. My phone would have gone back day one. My friend took his back to Verizon, refused to leave the store with it and spoke directly to a manager.

He's using an S7 for the time being.

Hope we get our devices shipped next week....the longer it takes the more stories will pop up
I think there will be more than we hear about.

Before the recall happened, we knew about four or five exploded phones. We found out that 35 had exploded in total when they announced the recall. So for every one we heard about, five more happened we didn't hear about.

At this point, I think it's fair to say that potential Note7 buyers would be best to wait it out for a bit longer after the replacements come so that users can give their feedback.

It's a very expensive device, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a phone that doesn't give a user major issues.

At this stage do you think its better for me to go return this now and wait for the new Note or another phone later on rather than swaping it out?

 As I said in the thread tilted "What Samsung should do to regain.."
What most factories do with the output of Faulty products, whether
is an Electronic gadget-Clothing-Food,.etc. Is Stop assembling
and discard the product totally to avoid spread the infection

Samsung should limit its models to SGs7:Gs7Edge & apply all its
Technology on them. Why Apple is successful they dealing just
with one-Model..Samsung eliminate totally Note7-From the
menu or face the consequences. Do am I right-Androids

I will follow Samsung's recommendation. At this time Samsung has not issued a recommendation to stop using the phone, only to exchange it, so I will exchange it as soon as there is a replacement.

If Samsung steps up and says stop using the device, then I will. Otherwise I will keep my current charging practices which are no fast charging, no charging while I sleep, only charge on non flammable surface and only charge if I'm in the room.

I disagree. I like the Note features the S7 Edge doesn't have.

That's not a good idea.

The Note has its own dedicated fanbase for a reason. Killing it off wouldn't be a smart move.
