I believe that guy is in for a large payday if it was indeed the phone that caused those injuries.

Those plastic gas cans are the first thing to melt in a fire. I didn't see the Note 7 in there either.

If he had it in his pocket, why only is his left kneecap and shin only burned 😒
No thigh injury. The damage to his pants is more so towards his waist, not his knee.

ANY phone with a lithium-ion battery can explode/catch fire. We do not kow what kind of shape this phone was in before it ignited. We do not know how well this person cared for their phone. I mean, just reading comments about returning the Note 7, I can't tell you how many people have stated that they have already broken their screens, or caused other damage. The S7/S7E have been on the market for long enough. If there really was an issue, we would have known long ago. Someone is looking to cash in here. They're also trying to get other people involved so they can start a class action lawsuit...enough said.

I did notice the last few days before I finally shut the thing off was how crappy the battery life had gotten. I was way impressed with it when I first got it but after a 1.5 weeks it seemed to be draining a lot faster. Moved backed to my Note 5 and am enjoying pretty good battery life again. (The Note 5 didn't have as big of a battery as it should have.)

Firefighter here. I hope this is a joke. Show me an ignition source and I will show you smoke and heat banking down the ceiling of a room and contents in under 3 minutes. No accellerant needed. Then initiate 911 and add 90 seconds to the incident before our station is alerted. Add 3 minutes response time (if youre lucky) and you have extension into the walls and or attic. Yes. Your house can burn down without gasoline.
Then have that happen in an airplane at 20,000 feet, or in your car while you're driving at speed in heavy traffic.

Last I heard, the Airlines are considering banning all Samsung phones on their flights, as they are unable to easily differentiate the N7.

The microsd card is worth more than the vr. Out of the 3 vr< watch < micro sd card. At least in terms of price.

Is it possible to use a reference picture?

From afar, the N7 looks similar to a lot of other Samsungs, but go closer and there are some differences.

"...Note 7s with new batteries are due to become available on Sept. 19."

Some good info in the article. You have to get past some of the info on the son and it's about halfway down. I'd love to know where they got the Sept. 19 info. Now that the CPSC is involved...

Most likely for other parts of the World. They dont have a CPSC so they will go on sale there again sooner.

I understand your gas can comment now after your reply here. The fire department should be able to tell what was the source of the fire. They can tell when a single match was used or whether an accelerant was used such as gas. Hopefully what cause this will actually be released to the public.

This is what could happen if you charge your Samsung Note 7.

The owner says Samsung has been giving him the run around, yet Samsung says they are working him to assist him any way...sounds like BS to me Samsung!
What sort of run around does he claim Samsung is giving him?

Well, I've been hanging in there with my N7 waiting for the dust to settle. I love the phone, but every day seems to bring on news of a new fireball somewhere, and its getting a bit hairy (although I practice "safe charging"). The worst effect of the recall for me is that I can't enjoy the phone to the fullest (customizing, apps, etc), as I know I will be turning it in soon.

Given that the safe N7s won't ship to the US until at least the 19th of this month, after the new iPhone hits the shelves this week, I might get a refund on my N7, take the iPhone for a spin, and return it in 14 days for a safe N7 (with whatever goodies may come with it) - depending on how much I may miss the N7.

In the meantime, I've heard reports that the Airlines are considering banning all Samsung phones from flights to avoid having to train their employees to discern the N7 from the rest.

Also, remember that Smart Switch can back up your entire phone and copy it back to the replacement unit, customization and all... so customize away!

I am still using my pre-ordered phone the same as before. I have not experienced any issues at all with the phone getting hot. It has also been charged on different chargers (portables, car chargers, etc.) with no issues. I'm still loving every minute with this phone & will not be turning it in.

I'm basically just trying to move forward like normal. I will return it when they have a replacement for me. I'm not returning it for another type of phone. I switched from iOS for this phone, not any other. It's not easy...I still get a bit worried when I charge the phone and everything. I get annoyed...because it sure doesn't seem like there's anything we can do to get this taken care of quickly. It seems that they have botched this pretty good and it's not getting any better.
