Every report I heard of the people said that the phone was charging hot. My phone never gets hot. I need the S-Pen. If I get the Note 5 and use flash drive. I will be audited. I get electronic signatures and documents. S7 just will not work. And yes i do not likebthe S7. I will wait for the Replacement.

And if it causes a fire or worse... Injures or kill someone and you intentionally avoided the government recall even though you knew about it then it could be negligence. Whether or not it would be criminal would depend on a jury.

Even if not, you would have to live with the fact that you caused someone to die...

Hey if you need a spen and sd card... Go buy a note 4 to use temporarily.

I will just wait for Sprint to send the new one to my house.
I called them earlier today and they are sending mine out when they get the approval to do so. I'm just waiting on that email and tracking number. She said it could be 7-14 days but that was before the announcement this afternoon, so I'm expecting it at some point next week. 😊

If I had the funds to do so we would be having this conversation.

Re: Formal recall being announced by CPSC today at 4:15

Wait, what?!?!?!

So 3% of the N7s in the US are good?

So much for the people arguing that they weren't returning because it's an overblown, non existent problem and they were willing to take the risk.

Think they still are going to argue that?

You work right? Do you not have any credit cards? Worse case you can do a payday loan (i would normally never recommend them but, in this situation, I make an exception).

Would be interesting if Samsung is using the IMEI checker to absolve them from future lawsuits.... Just think...
Consumer - My N7 caught fire and burned down my house. I am suing you.
Samsung - Didn't you get our text and know about the recall?
Consumer - Not at all. There is a recall?
Samsung - Yes there is. You checked your IMEI on 9/15/16 and we verified that it was affected.

They are saying 97% but I think they are just using this checker for information purposes...

Dunno, just a thought.

Battery with dead cells in it will tend to get warm or hot. Using battery App To keep an eye on on the temperature. I would of did The Exchange if they could of gave me a Note 4. S7 and Note 5 are unacceptable.

That's not what's happening here....but ok. It's not a "dead cell" problem it's a "the thing that separates parts of the battery that should NEVER touch catastrophically fails unexpectedly" problem.

I also HIGHLY doubt that you're staring at your battery temp the entire time it's charging. Which doesn't matter since we've established that you can't possibly know that heat is a precursor of the phone catching on fire.

I think you're just being stubborn about not wanting to use a phone that doesn't have every single thing you want for the next few weeks.

Calling all those Debbie downers and saying taking months.. Like to see where you are now lol.

Right here. Got no problem being wrong because the fact remains this debacle has turned myself and many more off from Samsung. I personally had my last 3 phones from them be complete busts (S3, S7 Active and the Note 7) so I decided to jump ship and not look back. I am still keeping up with the news for an employee who is waiting for his Note 7 to be replaced.

So yeah the Note 7 is an incredible phone made by, imo, an incompetent company. Hopefully this is the last issue with the phones.

Doubtful. Samsung knows which batteries came from which distributor and apparently 97% came from the one that is causing the issue.

Every note 7 phone that was sold before 9/15/16 are affected. No matter where your note 7 was made, every imei that isn't one of the new ones will say affected.

92 report issues so far. Before it's all said and done probably around 200 total imo.

Is the Note 7 still going to have a stigma to it as the Note that caught fire?

I don't disagree with you at all. Involving the CPSC and having a checker is definitely a way of mitigating future litigation. No conspiracy there.

The side effect of doing everything possible to get all of the affected devices back is that it becomes VERY difficult to prove that you didn't receive notice of the recall.

Re: Formal recall being announced by CPSC today at 4:15

So we found out there's a recall and our options are the same as before. Glad the CPSC got involved...;)

LOL! Yes, I feel much safer now... having been delayed a week longer to get my replacement thanks to their involvement... my tax dollars hard at work! (and yes, mine is a verified "exploding kitten")

(I base that delay timeframe off calling Sammy last week. Last week, they told me I'd be able to get a new one this week. When I couldn't get a new one this week, I called Sammy again early this a.m. who told me basically that they had to wait on the CPSC.)

Re: Anyone returning or returned and purchase later?

The new Note7 has just been approved by the CPSC and it will be available next week on sept 21. I'm returning mine for a safe Note7, so not switching to another device.

I understand and I was frustrated too but it didn't really turn me away even doh I've been a nexus user for 5 years now. What I can say though. I think it just makes the company a little bit more better. They will triple check their quality control and make sure this crap doesn't happen again. Just like us touching a hot stove. Would we do it again? Nope.

Plus things happen.
