Just dropped mine off at UPS, said they should receive it on Thursday. Have photos of the labels, on the weighing machine at UPS, boxing video, receipt of shipment and even put all my contact information on a piece of paper in the box too! Still said I'd be looking at the latest to receive my check is 12/07/2016 due to Thanksgiving, UGH!

I just wanted to jump on here and let everyone know that you'll be waiting a very long time for your checks/refunds. I sent out my burn damaged note 7 through UPS as well on October 13th and have yet to receive my check or hear back from Samsung. From what I know, Samsung will be issuing refund checks through UPS and will be sending a tracking # when the checks are shipped. Even calling them back and asking them for a status update will give you vague answers. I have been told many times that they have no information regarding refunds and that as soon as recalled phones are received at their warehouses, it take 2 weeks not including weekends or holidays to start sending out checks.

I do have a 2nd note 7 that I am still currently using despite the updates. Stericycle has been contacting many times to try and retrieve this device, but I refuse to surrender it until I receive the refund for the first phone.

Just heard back from samsung stating that if a phone was purchased 2nd hand through a 3rd party and no documentation is shown to samsung such as a receipt or proof of purchase, no refund will be issued and the phone will stay in their possession permanently.

That's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen right there. They cannot do that, and that was never stressed in the 25 phone calls I placed to them. Samsung also stated that they would accept those phones back for refund after the second recall.

I can honestly say I've called about 5 different contact numbers no less than 100 times spending countless hours speaking to dozens of representatives. They've told me if no official proof of purchase is emailed to glvplmail@sea.samsung.com, they will close the ticket and not issue refunds or returns. I will suggest that the best way to get any sort of positive response is to email the President directly. Either the US representative or UK.

Samsung will gladly send you a return box for you to send back your recalled note 7 or a representative from stericycle to come collect it, but you might not see a refund. Samsung is only concerned with obtaining the last remaining 15% of note 7's that are in the wild, afterwards it might get to issuing refunds. In the meantime, don't hold your breath or expect a refund anytime soon.

This is Samsung legal department phone number if anybody is interested 2012294068. Nobody will answer and eventually get a machine to leave a message. I myself am considering a class action lawsuit considering the way Samsung has handled this debacle.

I am glad I haven't returned it. I still have the "fire proof box".... just want a root or hack please

edit: I want to see a 3rd party owner get a check. Also...I believe it may become a collector's item :)

As far as I can tell, Samsung has the upper hand. They're limiting our phone usage through updates but will not issue us refunds or an exchange. Eventually our phones will be useless much like elsewhere in other countries where they cut them off completely from carriers. Going through carriers is pointless as they will not exchange or refund if you didn't purchase it directly through them without a proof of purchase. The next step and only step left is to just wait. You can pester Samsung all you want but ultimately you'll have to surrender your phone. Samsung will not issue refunds or exchanges without your Note 7 in their possession. At that point they'll issue refunds or exchanges when they feel like it. The only thing I can recommend is if you have another phone to use activate that and surrender your Note 7 and pray that they'll issue you a refund. Other then that, maybe call Samsung to see if they'll be nice enough to overnight a
S7 to exchange for your Note 7.

Check ebay and you'll see that the phone is already up in price. Some going for $1000 buy it now. There are some people who have rooted their phone and regressed to old firmwares before the updates. Some have added Odin as well. I have yet to hear of anyone with a 3rd party Note 7 receive a check.

I hope Samsung doesn't try something like that. I live in Canada. And I picked up two note 7 when I was in the states recently off Craigslist i already called Samsung and they shipped me a box to return one of the phones to my cousins house in the states. They said once I ship back the phone they will send me a refund. I been waiting to initiate the second return on the basis that someone on here claims they get a cheque. I won't be back in the US until first week of December. So hopefully by then someone gets a cheque and I can bring both phones over the same time.

which samsung reps told you this? was it the note 7 team specialists in colorado? or was it the level 1 support staff based out of the Philippines? Cause it it was the level one support, I think we all can agree that they are highly misinformed about the note 7 situation and spread alot of misinformation.

I've talked to both groups but the majority of information and representatives I've spoken to especially lately have been Note 7 specialists. Phillipines specialists have been no help whatsoever. All they've done is take information down, issue a ticket #, and claim that I'll receive a call or email in 24-48 hours. Lately I've spoken to reps in the US from the Note 7 recall department, Note 7 refunds/exchange department, and Note 7 claims/damages department.
