I use the Bodyguardz HD Contour. S-Pen works fine with it. I also have the Samsung S-View flip cover case. I've used that type of case on all my Note phones ...3, 4 and 7.

Didn't have a scratch on my recalled note7 and still don't with my new note7. I hate screen protectors. This display doesnt scratch as easily as people might think.

As expensive as this phone is why not protect your investment. Case and protector is a must in my book.
Because people like to feel the aesthetics of their phone. Screen protectors smudge and diminish the display in no time.

So far so good with my unprotected about to be replaced note7 as well. No scratches at all.

The thing that I noticed in all of the drop tests on YouTube, is that when the front screen cracks g5 usually keeps the screen usable and/or readable. The cracks are almost directed towards the edge so that the flat part of the screen stays intact. I believe that this g5 has more strength in that it doesn't flex/twist so that a drop on the FRONT of the corner doesn't cause the whole screen to twist and shatter. These are just my observations.

The Zagg "case-friendly" protectors are barely case-friendly. I have 3 Spigen cases and each one lifted the TPU on the top and bottom edges because they stretch too close to the edge. I don't know which case is friendly with these protectors but not any that I've tried. If it didn't lift because of the cases, the protector would seem to actually stay down on its own on the curved edges. However, I did not like how the installation process it. I've had Zagg protectors before, but this one requires you to use the adhesive lotion pad to wipe the protector to activate the adhesive rather. When you do this, you invite a lot of dust to the protector. I've had Zagg protectors before, and I don't recall them needing to be installed this way. This is the HD Clarity one. Maybe it was just this model, but I have found that the old way of spraying the TPU and your fingers to be a far better method. Anyway, this won't do and I just have it on right now to have something on it.

I have a Zagg protector on my GS6e and it was the spray bottle installation method with that one and it fit really well without lifting. However, I didn't have a bunch of cases for that phone to see if it would have lifted with the cases.

I have a Bodygardz on my GS7e and I am thinking of getting it for the Note 7. It is very case friendly with the GS7e and the edges do not lift on their own on the curve. I just don't know if I have the patience to do it. Also, it's not cheap. I was at the Verizon store the other day and the guy there talked me out of buying the curved glass protector since someone came in complaining that it just fell off. lol - he also owned one and is keeping it naked for now.

I'm not keeping my phone naked. It's never taken anything away from me by having the protector there with my piece of mind. I don't care about fingerprints or smudges - I would get that on the unprotected screen as well, especially once that Oleophobic coating wears off.

The grey tips are made for plastic. Glides very smoothly.
    Tried it. You're right!
    Works perfectly on TPU.
    No more complaining from me!!

Lol, I was observing my s pen kit and could not think of a reason as to why they had 2 grey tips in the bag. I don't use screen protectors but now I know.

“The additional S Pen tips that come with the Samsung Galaxy Note7 are made up of different materials to suit different needs. The black and white S Pen tips are made of Elastomer, which gives it a rubbery finish, while the grey S Pen tips are made from Polyoxymethylene, which gives it a plastic finish. The rubber tip offers better grip while the plastic tip provides smoother contact with the Note7 screen. The default pen tip of the S Pen is the rubber tip. Samsung has included five additional pen tips with every Note7, three rubber tips and two plastic tips, to cater to different preferences and usage scenarios of Note7 customers.”

i totally get enjoying the naked aesthetic, to feel the screen that but protecting the screen is better than an aesthetic scratched/cracked screen. But to each his/her own.

Corning has rebutted the claims that GG 5 is less scratch resistant than GG4. GG5 just has more shatter reistance...it is not softer (according to Corning)as claimed by some.
In any event...use a screen protector if a scratch is going to ruin your day!

I didn't leave the Verizon store without a glass screen protector.

I had a colleague crack a S7 Edge. She looked around for a store to put on a replacement screen. The best price she could get was $400. Those curved screens are expensive.

100% disagree with everyone that said you need it. Nope nope and NO. I have a very light weight case. No screen protector. I tried TWO of them. The plastic ones cause the s pen to stick a little. It's not smooth.

The glass ones that are curved do not stay on. Then the one that I had that I thought would stay on caused me to not be able to type the letters S and E without pushing harder on the screen.

Well, there is a difference between needing one and being able to apply one. My wife's Note needs a SP, but I can't find one that fits... Her S7 needed a SP, but that one was just as hard to fit. So she didn't have one on her S7 and she doesn't have one on her Note.

I'm not one to drop my phones. Knock on wood.. I've only dropped my note 3 twice and that could of easily been avoided if I didn't leave it on my lap while driving. With the note7, I don't do anything stupid. I wouldn't mind a scratch that you can only see in bright lighting and at a specific angle. That's not really a scratch to me. Even So, I dont even have that. Not on my note 3, previous note7 or current note7.

Ixir film screen protector on Amazon is the best I've tried. Gone through about 10 so far and this one has 0 drag. Feels like the screen is naked.

Recommend the Samsung screen protector. Fits easily & works well, at least with s-view case, Spigen wallet or pdair leather holster.

I've had my phone since August 19th with no screen protector on it and It's in and out of my back pocket all day every day with zero scratches or blemishes. YMMV
Same here (but with a two-week hiatus with an interim phone during the recall). I've never used a case or screen protector on any of my Note phones, and I've never scratched or cracked one despite heavy use.

Do I "need" one? No. Does someone else "need" one? Maybe. If you are going to be that worried about scratches or dropping your phone and can put up with all the negatives then go for it. I won't be putting one on my replacement Note 7. Tried a few, that were recommended here in this forum, on my original Note 7 and will not be doing it again. I'll enjoy my phone much more without one.

Agree - if you think you're going to worry about it, then you should get one. If not, then don't bother. It's just going to bug you every time you handle the phone. People either swear by it or against it so I think these questions will never yield a final answer. I would say one thing - no one will use the phone like you do, so I wouldn't look to deeply into comparing comments about how much they use their phone with how you are going to use it.
