Changing the Note 8 Pull Down Menu

My Galaxy Note 8 comes in in a couple days, and I am very excited. The only thing that bothers me based on the videos is that it has the same type of pull down menu as a phone. I'm switching from a Transformer tablet, and I love that the notifications come up from the corner instead of filling the screen. Does anyone know of a way that the menu could be changed to the way it is on 10 inch tablets as to only take up a small part of the screen with the notifications?

You get that when the device runs vanilla android 4.2. The Nexus 7 and the Hisense Sero 7 Pro have the small notification panel because they run vanilla 4.2.
