lock screen issue

so this is a new one for me as i've tried searching for this issue and talking with samsung reps

i'm not sure what i did, if anything, but while the lock screen is on, the phone will light up and about 5 seconds later the screen will go dark again as the screen has timed out. 5 seconds later the screen will light up while still on the lock screen, and 5 seconds later the screen will time out. it repeats this process over and over and over and over, and doesn't stop.

i've already done a soft reset on the phone and cleared the cache.

thank you for your time with this matter and i appreciate all insight as i'm hoping i don't need to do a factory reset on the phone.

Do you have a case on? If so, try taking it off. Also make sure there's nothing magnetic nearby.

i'll have to try the above mentioned later tonight, but thank you for that.

as far as a case on it, yes. always has been in the 3 years i have had it.

Do you have a case on? If so, try taking it off. Also make sure there's nothing magnetic nearby.

Took the case off, put the phone in safe mode and it still replicates the same issue as prior before. :-(

Screen protector? Sometimes a poorly fitting screen protector can cause phantom touches, which might make the phone think you're tapping to wake it.

Let me see if @mustang7757 has any other ideas. Considering that it happens in Safe Mode, you may have to try a factory reset.

Make sure in device care tap battery then 3 dots upper right corner not toggled on or power save mode ? Or pull the notifications tray down and long press battery and make sure adaptive or medium not on . Then last check settings>lock screen>secure lock settings what's it set at ?

i'm not seeing device care under my settings options. even do a such on it and it doesn't show listed. also not seeing the other way you're mentioning.

If you go to settings you don't see battery and device care ?

I can't verify Im 3 android version ahead , try in setting at the top search bar type secure lock setting see if it pops up

Go to settings>lock screen and security and see the screen time set there

i think i already mentioned above that secure lock setting isn't found when doing a search
