do you think it's possible the Note and S# Edge lines will converge?

Since the Note 7 and GS7 edge are are almost identical do you think Samsung's end game is to merge the 2 flagship to make one super smartphone.

It depends on how well the S7 Edge sold. The S7 Edge exists in its current form because of the wild success of the S6 Edge compared to the S6, and they were VERY similar in size/specs. The Note 7 obviously capitalized on some of the Edginess and could be an S8 Edge alternative, but I have a feeling that we'll still see the S8 Edge and if they do merge, it'll probably be in 2018. The reason I say that, is it's currently August and most of the designs and whatnot on the S8 and S8 Edge are probably getting close to the finish line if we're looking at a Q1 or early Q2 release. There is a benefit to having three sizes of a very similar device... more options for your consumers and probably not that much difference in sunk R&D costs.

I feel it's more likely for the S7 and S7 Edge to merge together.

I think that Samsung will incorperate the edge function permemntly for the note series, but i also think that samsung is going to keep the smaller edge on the s series line up with the success of the s7edge.

Agree. I was about to say the same thing.
We maybe looking at the Note7 screen as the type of screen to be used on all Galaxy phones.
I can see the S8 being around 5.1-5.2" and having the Note screen size grow a little next year.
This way Samsung can just focus on the color being the only options.
64gb will probably be the standard along with 6gb RAM for the S8.

No one is a fashion phone and the other phone should be more geared towards smartphone productivity

Good question, as the devices are so similar apart from the Spen , they may just a merge and have a large/small version. Next year's phones are going to be very interesting with regards to specs.

As there has already been a Note 8 (Tablet), I wonder what next years Note will be called.

Re: New line name

"Remember how our last phone caught on fire?" is not a message any company wants to be sending, even if they're trying to suggest the new one is better.
