Quite a few people - most of us are rural.

There are quite a number of rural areas that have no T-Mobile coverage at all. T-Mo will start rolling out 600MHz to add signal to some of those areas starting this year, according to their site. This includes, for example, 2/3 of my home state of Maine which has spotty (if any) T-Mo coverage.

So for a lot of rural people who have no coverage at all on any carrier, having T-Mo offer coverage is going to be a big deal.

For those in larger cities with good T-Mo coverage already - unless their current spectrum is saturated with active phones, there really is no reason to get too excited about 600MHz except maybe for the better building penetration, which may be important to a relatively small percentage of urban users - but urban rollout looks like it's going to be a couple of years off or more, so they will probably have switched phones at least once by then.
