Did you have to drop into Pro mode for these shots? Perhaps you could give us some pointers as to how you achieved these great shots? Thanks in advance.

Shoot mostly in pro mode.
No secrets really, but have the experience of shooting a lot with my dslr. So I usually have a good idea of what I want to do.
Find it really interesting getting the phone close to what I know what is possible with a dslr and decent glass.
Best thing is to read up on basic settings and have a play.
I tried taking the shots above on Auto out of curiosity and couldn't get it near where I wanted.

I bought this dorky camera 'rig' since I'm always comparing two phones. It was a pain taking the same photo with note 8 and v30 and I have the pixel coming too.

I don't think you can do that, but you can add a shortcut to pro mode on the home screen.

Open camera, swipe right to show modes, 3 dots top right, add shortcut, select pro, done.

Thanks. When shooting into the sun I try to leave the sun out of the frame for better metering, but with where the sun was today I couldn't avoid it.

I have a clip-on circular polarizer filter I bought recently, but haven't quite figured out how to use it yet. Didn't have it on me today anyway
