What's your way to get a good clean install?
I'm not going to use the smart switch app.
Pix on SD card anyways.
But once you login to Google it just starts downloading all of the apps I've used previously. At least it used to do that.
How can we stop it from doing that?
And also removing bloatware.
Just need to keep these machines clean as possible to minimize battery drain.

I thought one you log in you have the option to either restore from a previous phone or to start fresh. It has been over a year since I did it so I could be wrong.

Yes, I did a clean install. I did not choose the option to restore. Like you, all the pics and videos I wanted are already on my sd card and I don't care about my old text messages.

I did a clean install, start fresh so that no bugs or anything carry over from restore. I had the issue on the essential phone when I did a restore from backup and was causing lots of freezing, lag etc. But doing a factory reset and fresh install everything was buttery smooth. Same for Note 8, set it up from fresh so that no issues arise from restoring.
