I don't know all the uses but I believe it is turned on when using one of the programs used for paying with your phone. Can also be used in some cases to transfer things between phones.

It's not really something that was "discovered", but I absolutely love the unobtrusive text message notifications! That small bubble is amazing, especially for such a large screen. Don't know if I'll lose it when I finally switch to another app from the stock one but it's helped keep me on the stock app
I dont have a bubble,can u show me what u mean,if u dont mind.

I have only had Android Pie for an hour on my Note 8, but so far I am loving it. I like the steps being available with a pull down for Samsung Health, I like the new camera selection for video, I like the crispness of everything thus far, I like the bold font size option. Nothing screwy so far. I will see how the battery does and let you know with an update. Yay Android PIe!

I have smart lock that keeps my phone unlocked in proximity to my Pebble watch.
Therefore I do not often need to use the iris scanner unless the screen has been off for several hours overnight, at which point my eyes are all gummed up with sleep It's the one time it doesn't work so well.

Next SMS is a reasonable replacement with good themes and configurations.

I'm curious what do you all use NFC before because my note8 is the first I noticed that had it and to be honest I just have no idea about it and what I could use it for

I have a NFC tag on my alarm clock that does 2 things. First tap turns screen brightness down & mutes all sounds. Then on second tap turns my screen brightness to auto and un-mutes all sounds. I have another one at work that just turns off Bluetooth, wi-fi, & mutes ringers on first tap & then turns it all back on second tap. I have one in my wallet so all I do is tap my phone to my wallet to open Andriod pay app.

I have also made a few hard to find Amiibos for my switch.

Hi,

I found out that there was an app to "Hide Notch" on my Samsung Note 8 (Screenshot 1) and an option to "simulate display with cutout" in dev optoins. I thought these ideas were quite interesting.

Probably was put in universal in the software so developers could test apps and software on ones that included the notch. Just made easier to have , if phone doesn't have it they ignore it . In the secret dialer test mode it has squeeze function but Samsung doesn't have it .
