Any way to get rid of NFC icon?

Pull the notification bar all the way down (use two fingers about an inch apart). Tap the "hamburger" menu, then tap "Button order". Drag them wherever you like.

I think that would only move it in the pull down shade. I don't know of a way to get it to go away on the status bar.

Yea I'm coming from the Pixel XL so I'm so used to not seeing it just makes it look cluttered.

I just turn off NFC. You can still use Samsung Pay with NFC off as Samsung Pay will activate it only when it is needed.

My unlocked version does not have the NFC icon with the NFC turned on in the settings. Weird that it showed in the T-Mobile version on my S8+ . I am not complaining since I like a cleaner notification bar and glad it is not there.
