Every year, I hope the next Note will be with Samsung's own silicon for better performance and optimizations. Nothing against the Snapdragon, but it lags behind the likes of the A11 and Exynos in performance. If only they could use the Exynos paired with Qualcomm's LTE modems it would be perfect.

Honestly this year its a very small performance difference between the 2, A11 is a good leap ahead of them both.

Well in benchmarks the a11 is leaps and bounds above, but in recent real world tests between the note 8 and iPhone 8 plus tells a different story. The a11 seems to be no more faster then any iPhone has been over a note in previous yrs. Most of the a11 power seems to show itself during gaming. However, on basic apps and holding items in memory the note usually hangs with or even beats the latest iPhones.

That's not where the CPU differences matter. Every day tasks have been pretty similar between different processors for quite a while. It's the heavy lifting where the A11 destroys anything else. Things like computational photogrpahy, photo processing, gaming, and AR are the areas where it's not even a competition.
