How do undoze an app?

I told Android to optimize my battery. It looks like it makes some of the apps doze when they aren't open and in focus. That's a bad thing for Nine, my Exchange email client. I don't get new emails until I open it up. I've changed the settings in Nine from push to 5 minutes back to push and it doesn't help. Emails don't show up until I reopen the app. How do I undoze this one app?

Go to general Settings > Device maintenance > tap Battery > tap Unmonitored apps > tap 3 dot menu upper right > tap Add apps, then scroll through the list and find your email app, tap to select it and then tap Done upper right corner to save your selection. It should now be in your unmonitored list of apps.
