Where is the Oreo update/beta/info for the Note 8??

The S8 and the S8 plus are on their 3rd Oreo beta already with the November security patch! I'm sitting over here with the August security patch still and no updates on my Verizon N8. I don't understand because usually the note line comes first w/ sammy but not this time I guess.

My S7 Edge even has the November security patch ๐Ÿ˜‘ oh well I guess here comes the waiting game...waiting for updates is nothing new and part of the process especially with Verizon lol

I would expect it to be next year, all bugs ironed out plus a good few things arriving they couldn't implement with Nougat, I think Oreo will be a fair big upgrade for our Note

This article indicates early 2018 for the Note 8. May be further out into 2018 if the carriers don't already have 8.0 under development/test.

"What devices will get Project Treble support?

All devices that launch with Android 8.0 Oreoor above must fully supportProject Treble.

All devices that upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo are not required to fully support Project Treble.

The devices that have updates (official releases or closed betas) to Android 8.0 Oreo and do support Treble include the following:"

You'll want some P(ie) Android 9.0(?) To go with that Note 9 - gives the full taste of Treble I suppose.

I had Oreo on my Pixel. Big woop. Now I have Nougat on my N8. Couldn't care less.

No, lots of posts on XDA state Samsung may choose to go against it. Also, It could have launched with oreo, but no, it choose Nougat.

Oreo is beta. It'll hit S9. It isolates carrier partition from system making support updates easier and faster. Under the hood.

Phones that ship with 8.0.0+ will for all purposes have to support Treble.

Why all of the crying every single time there's an update? When you buy these, you know it will take awhile to update. Enjoy your phone now for what it is instead of already wishing for something else.

Yes, Android 8 is superior to Android 7... Mostly several minor performance improvements, which added up make 8 possibly meaningful.

Is there anything in Android 8 that you are losing your mind over because you are stuck on Android 7?

Picture in picture mode? Personally, I'm either watching something full screen on a phone, or I'm not.

Improved autofill framework? I don't save credit cards through Google. This improvement is Google making it easier and more appealing to convince you to store more banking and personal data about you.

Oreo can better learn your sharing habits? Again, it's a small convenience, it is smart, but it is more data stored about you.

Per app disc space quota for cached data, WiFi aware, default max aspect ratio gone, and multi display support round out the headlines.... There is some other stuff.

Google android 8 VS 7. A great article by a competitors to Android Central will be found on this topic.

Seriously folks... I'll take what is easily the best Android phone... The Samsung Note 8....& a wait for Oreo over the dumpster fire of physical hardware issues that is the Pixel 2 or any other Android phone which has Oreo. .

Most importantly, none of my apps care if the OS is 7 or 8 in any material, significant way....

At least we're getting security updates in a decent timeframe. In all seriousness the Note 8 is still a solid device with 7.1.1 compared to the Pixel with 8.1. Your average person wouldn't notice any difference in the OS itself when comparing the two.

Is that even possible with the S-pen? Probably not part of the hardware abstraction.

I'm running a leaked Samsung Note 8 Official Android Oreo 8.0 OS. It was sent Ota to a guy who leaked it. It runs smooth but the Samsung Gear Manager is not compatible with my GS2 or S watches ๐Ÿ˜ž. Also Samsung Health is not compatible. Lastly the App Icon Badges doesn't work. I miss my notifications badges.
