Somebody please help me!

ProximityScreenOff Pro is suddenly draining my battery in the background.

Within about 7 hours (with no phone usage) my battery has dropped nearly 40%.

What the hell? Please see, attached. What is happening?

Here's an alphabetical list of all apps, including system apps, on my N8. Nothing even resembles that culprit you show.

Download Malwarebytes and run it. You've got an invader if my list is correct.

Disable the app. Compare the battery life with and without the app. It seems to use a bit, but the nature of the app is such that it is on and working constantly..
To put in context tho, it's 16% OF 40% drain. You look like you get good battery life. Still, I'd just uninstall the thing.. One less app to suck your battery..

Sounds like it's always awake so it can monitor the proximity sensor at all times for gestures. It probably is from an update. Write the developer about it. Based on the feedback on Google Play, he seems fairly responsive to people's problems.

Someone posted that after the recent security update, wifi on is causing the battery to drain. Supposedly Google is aware of the issue and has a fix in the works.

Thank you, all. I have written to the developer and since disabled it.

But, I did lose 40% of my battery in 7 hours (16% for this app and 24% for everything else) while not using the phone at all.
