Every time I try to plug my Galaxy Note 8 in to charge it comes up with do not turn off target

This is the first time this has ever happened, my Galaxy Note 8 was working fine, I turned it off to charge it, plugged it in and I get the screen come up with downloading do not turn off target

so I unplug the device from the charger reboot holding power and volume down, it resets and is fine, I turn it off and go to plug in and gives me the same screen.

I reboot again and all is fine, leaving the device on i plug in and it will not charge, turn the device off and same screen again.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?? Don’t really have over £800 for a new Note 8
