Signal strength since Oreo

Has anyone found that their Note 8 drops calls and has lower signal strength since the Oreo update?

Is it really lower signal strength or just the bars? The algorithm for the bars could have changed.

You only know true signal strength if you check the -dBm number.

My note 8 signal strength is much better since Oreo. I live in the Bermuda Triangle of cellphone reception--half mile from US border and historically poor reception here with many people with boosters. I have gone from 1/2 bar to 3 and 4 bars which is amazing. No dropped calls.

OK, thanks guys. Maybe it was the cell towers or weather but I've had shocking reception today. I'll monitor it.

It depends. Near Aloha Stadium I'm getting around 150Mbps down and 40Mbps up. However, over by Diamond Head Beach, it was around 2-3Mbps.

I've noticed lower signal strength here at work since I updated to Oreo. Hoping for better reception once I get an update, which could be a long time since it has to pass through AT&T.

I'm also getting around 25Mbps up and 26Mbps down in Kaneohe, where I work. It really depends on where you are, and the amount of congestion that is on your network. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I'm on Verizon.

Mines been fine with Oreo. Happen to run speedtest while at red light on way to work this morning. AT&T. Full bars.

It is likely a carrier or tower problem. Are getting the same reception everywhere?

Yes. Same issue. Once upgraded to Oreo, drops constantly. Samsung even replaced my phone and same problem. Even worse with the new replacement. Note 8's suck. Anybody want to buy a used 1 still on warrenty? I hate this Samsung Note 8. My old Note 3 was better.

I'm not sure that's an effective sales technique.

Do you want to try to solve your problem? The Note8 works well for most of us, so it's something specific to your own situation. Either it's your physical phone (unlikely, since you say the problem persists after replacing it), or your software/configuration (are you rooted, using third-party optimizers or package disablers, or have you manually disabled any system apps or services?), or your cell service (does your carrier sometimes throttle, and have you tried near a different cell tower?).

What's the dBm for your signal strength? Have you tried running in Safe Mode, or clearing the system cache?

My signal strength has gotten waaaay better.
