Hide Navigation Bar Button No longer works. HELP!

I recently had removed the hide navigation bar button from the left side of the bar, by going into settings. Later I went back into settings and restored the button. When I did I noticed that the button looked different from what it had been. Instead of a tiny circle, it was now a solid dot, that no longer worked, when pressed even with the Spen, to hide the navigation bar. I can't figure out what happened or how to get a functioning button back. Rebooting the phone didn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

I must be losing my marbles. I just figured out what I had done wrong. It had been so long since I had used that hide button, I had forgot that you must double tap the button in rapid succession in order for it to hide the navigation bar. When in hidden mode, the solid button becomes a circle.
