Just got me an iPhone XS 512 and spent a whopping $1400+$250 for apple care, now thinking hard about returning the device and going back to my Note 8.

Haven't used IOS for almost two years since iPhone 7+ and nothing has changed. Doesn't have split screen, not good at multitasking, and the battery isn't much better. I have a hard time justifying a 2g price tag for this phone.

Plan to stick with this phone during my return period, but if this experience doesn't get any better, I guess I'll be back.

Take back the X S Max and treat yourself to a Note9 512GB with 8GB RAM, you will probably get it for less than that X S Max, have some change in your pocket to get a 400GB MicroSD to

I'm just now realizing how crazy it is the price tag Apple charges for their phones. Part of the reason why I made the switch was due to the family having an apple ecosystem with iPad, iPhones, and iWatches. I do think Apple does an excellent job with integrating their service across all their devices. However, as an example of how close off the system is, I got the 512 storage variant, and cannot store files easily without iTunes crashing on me. It's not just a simple drag and drop; but rather, having to use iTunes for everything. Another thing I'm trying to get used to is how expensive all their accessories are. Fast charging adapter is $40.

Side by side comparison, although the screen is manufactured by Samsung, I am noticing a prominent yellow tint with my iPhone XS compared to no tint with my Note 8.

My wife would like me to give it a chance since she has the iPhone XS Max and would like me to stay with Apple since we can start using iMessanger and Facetime again.

Long story short, I guess, sometimes we take for granted, just the amount of freedom we have with android. Hopefully, my experience will get better.

Get her to use hangouts. My daughter uses that with me. She is on iOS and I have a Pixel 2XL on Pie. Works seamlessly and is free on both ecosystems.

I thought that the features of iPhone X new series are way better than before, but it seems like they are not considering the fact that you are planning to get back on using an Android smartphone.

iPhone is an excellent phone. However, if you're comfortable with Android, it is a step-down. I have always been an Apple fanboy. I am usually the first to praise how well the ecosystem is built, to me, that is what separates Apple from Android. If you've heavily invested in a few iPad, use iWatch, and have a MacBook, it does a beautiful job with delivering its service across all your devices.

After using Apple for the past few days, I slowly recall why I fell in love with iMessage. The challenge I have is the price tag. With the Verizon promotion, an iPhone XS and Max with apple care on both ran me well over $3000+ in addition to new charger and accessories.

That’s a hard pill to swallow. I can easily do it if it wasn't riddled with problems like charging gate, horrible signal, and poor OLED. One thing I was looking forward to was the excellent battery life, but it seems to be giving me the same battery life as the Note 8.

Not ranting, just a little disappointed, literally boxed up my Note 8 and planned to sell it. Just wanted to go back to Apple to join the rest of the fambam, but I guess I'll be the renegade and stick with android.

You all might be wondering why I'm posting here instead of Apple community. To be honest, I've always found this community to be objective between both ecosystems offering useful insights on pros and cons. I still feel the response I get here leans more on the positive side instead of the other way around.

Hate how Android keeps trying different message services that never works out. iMessage is so seamless between Apple products. Looks like they could innovate more.

You'd think so, but people using Google Voice have to use hangouts I believe and the app is still default for video in Chromebooks. I think it will be around for a while longer.

interesting to read your views. as a current note 8 user I am considering an iPhone XS max having not owned an iPhone since the 4. I really enjoy Android and have been happy with my note but I always follow the iPhone releases and despite the ridiculous prices and alarming comprises made by Apple to fleece people more and more, I still find myself interested in the max to see what the iPhone is all about again. either that or I'll probably get a note 9!

I couldn't agree with you more, I switched over to the Note 8 from an iPhone 7+ and never looked back for the 1+ years of owning the device. From my experience with iPhone, the ecosystem was always great, apps quality noticeably better, integration between devices surpassed android.

Now in 2018, apps looks disjointed with different resolutions and lots of apps are not updated to work with the notch so you'll get a black bar on top.

Fast charging doesnt come with the phone, certified fast charging cable is $20.00 and if you add the charging block that is another $20.00 - $40.00.

Tough to decide what to get with so many options out there. Note 9 does look like a great phone, after using the essential phone for a month, I thought I finally found a phone that I loved giving me all day battery life with very heavy use but the camera was something I couldn't get over.

I toggle between an iPhone 8+ and a Note 8.

There is 1 thing that I miss on the iPhone and that's iMessage, however iTunes keeps pushing me back to the Note 8. I won't miss facetime as my experience has always been a very poor quality call on both ends, and we live in an area that has great quality signal reception.

OTOH Apple OS follows best practices to ensure their end user experience never wavers. I'd call it total lock down, others would call it a walled garden.

On the messaging front I think Samsung's own messaging works very well within the Android circle, and Android Messages can give you an iMessage-esque experience with their messages for web trick.

While Hangouts may not be dead, Duo in my experience is much better for video calls. Cross platform Duo seems to be the favorite video app among our Android totin' kids.

$2000.00 for a new device and accessories? Put your cash back into the family for other things and keep your Note 8.

Apple needs to earn their end user's money and it sounds as if they have yet to win you over.

i tried the XA Max and liked it a lot. i returned it but may switch. I like Android but do not like their security. updates are slow I don't have 8.1 and iOS is more secure. both have advantages and disadvantages I really liked how facial recognition works especially with all of the apps and how last pass works well.for passwords. the biggest disadvantage is price but it is a good phone.
