From the Google app is one way. See Google's page on it.

Thanks for the reply! That is what I was looking for, is there a way to open that when long pressing the home button like it used to?

    1. From your device’s Settings, tap Apps.
    2. Tap the 3-dot menu button > Default apps > Device assistance app
    3. Tap Device assistance app, and then select Google.

    Or

    Settings>advanced features>device assistant app>select Google

Thanks kitmo, but I have selected Google as device assistance app. This gives me Google assistant when long pressing home.
