Back last year I went from the N8 over to the iPhone X. I then started to invest in the apple ecosystem with the HomePod, Apple Watch, Apple TV and MacBook Pro. I had been on android for the previous 4 years before going back to Apple and I quite liked the N8 and was one of the best phones I had to date.

Seeing the reviews of the new N9 I’m feeling tempted to go back to a N9 but my question is how nicely would the rest of my Apple gadgets play with it? I appreciate there will be loss of some functionality but how much? Anyone else invested in the Apple ecosystem but uses a android as their daily driver?

Apple's ecosystem is meant to be solitary confinement. Your homepod and Apple watch won't work with Android and most likely anything else. That's why I stay away from apple like the plague.

Yeah I kinda guessed the HomePod would be made redundant but I thought the watch would still work but with limited functions?

Everything I use is Apple bar my phone(s); I just don't get on with Apple iPhones; too locked down for my liking...

One big app I use for music is iSyncr; it allows me to sync my music on my Android phones, which I use Poweramp as the main music player. All I do is set up playlists I want; sync them via iSyncr and Poweramp etc. Poweramp allows you to see the music in their albums too; so you don't just have to listen to specific playlists, you can choose individual albums as well

Other than that; my business email is via Outlook; so that's straight forward (I don't bother with calendars; all my contacts are on Google, as are my pictures etc, so it's all accessible via Safari or Chrome

I've no input re the HomePod or watch though sorry; don't use anything like that

No, the Apple Watch works only with iPhones.

You will have no problems with the Apple TV and MacBook Pro. I have never had an iPhone but have Apple TV and Mac computers.

Integration between the two isn’t great. I have an iPhone X and Apple Watch, iPad Pro, MacBook, blah blah blah as well. And then I have my Note 8. All the Apple stuff is set up to use with my work. I save the Note for my personal phone line, and just use it that way. I have a gear S3 frontier that I wear from time to time as well, rather than the Apple Watch. I do have my Apple Watch hooked up to cell service however so I often leave my iPhone at home and have just the Apple Watch with me and everything, including the calls, work through that. Kinda sucks, but I gotta do it that way if I want/need to use both.

It's true that Apple's ecosystem is pretty awesome. The integration between products is completely seamless in a way we haven't really seen from another brand. Still, I haven't been a fan of iPhones in a while now and am willing to make the "ecosystem sacrifice" in order to have a Note in my pocket (the 9 will be my third one). In an ideal world, Samsung phones would be able to integrate with imessage, facetime, etc. but I doesn't look like that will ever happen.

This is kind of the reason I try to use things that are "Platform Agnostic" I know there may be some reduced functionality but they will all play together Just my 2 Cent's

I moved away from Apple from the iPhone 6 Plus to Samsung and android pretty much for the same reasons already pointed out.

I only have my 2011 MacBook Air left.

I don't miss Apples sandboxed iOS and iPhones one bit.

Your Apple Watch and HomePod will be worthless with the Note9. You can either stay within the ecosystem, or you can join the better side with the Note9.

I'm using the iPhone X, but I'm not invested in the Apple Ecosystem. I don't have an Apple Watch (anymore), a HomePod, or anything else. So I'll be okay once I pick up my Note9.

I was heavily invested in the apple ecosystem and genuinely had no problems with it. Everything worked well.

Decided to switch things up a bit and now only have a pixelbook, N9 (incoming) and also a galaxy watch (on preorder 2). been on Android for the last few months and enjoying it so far. don't really miss the switch as much as I thought I would have but ultimately I live the variety of handsets I now have to choose from. I've owned a blackberry key2, mi mix 2s and now moving on to the beast that is the N9. Last apple item I have left is the homepod which is going at the end of the week.

One of the best moves I made 😊

Switching back to Android. Currently on iPhone 7+. Already sold Apple Watch and Air pods for 250.00. Only Apple products I had. Unfortunately, air pods just never lived up to the hype for me.

The only thing that might be an issue is if you have any group texts in iMessage, you might not get any new messages from the group. You have to tell everyone to start a new convo, and then they start coming in as SMS.
