Everytime a new note comes out, someone with an S series phone has to come out and say it's just an S with a pen. You don't hear Note users downplaying the new S series when they come out after the note because note users know it's not in the same class.

As long as I can remember, the note has always been a step up from the s series. For some reason, the s series users have convinced themselves that the note phones are old technology with a few tricks and a s pen.

Did we see Samsung up the game with a 512 internal memory, 4000 battery,or 8gb ram on the s9 plus... No we didn't. Samsung has always pushed their limits on the note series.

I haven't really seen that happen, but the Note 9 definitely differentiates themselves so if people do downplay it... that seems to be misguided.

The S8 active had the 4k ma battery 2 years ago. It's not putting down the note to compare the specs, especially the 128 gig model due to the specs and hardware being identical for many components.
I'd like one, but with an s9 plus, I want a folding smart phone next. Not an upgraded s9 with a special s pen, as cool as its capacitor charging and processor cooling technologies are.

I've only seen that behavior on forums. Even then, it seems to be becoming less common. I'm sure if you ask regular consumers, they would not care one way or another.

Yeah and there are people who will trash you for your music.. your clothes.. so why care what others say? I don't try and impress anyone or be "approved" by strangers. I see zero reason to try and impress someone that I'll probably never see again and if I do.. I won't remember haha :P.

Well, because it basically is. If you don't use the S Pen there's really no reason to get this phone over the S9+
Aside from it being bigger, having more RAM, having more storage, the horizontal camera array, much larger battery (should amount to another hour or more of SOT for the average user), improvements to the camera functionality, launching on a newer (and better) version of Android which the S9+ still doesn't have, etc?

If your argument is that there is no good reason to upgrade from the S9+, sure, you have a phone that's pretty close in a lot of ways. That'd be false on it's face, because of the absolutism, but as a value proposition, I could understand any individual landing there. If your argument is that it's inconcivable that anyone would want the Note 9 over the S9+... well that's ridiculous. The Note 9 is objectively the equal to or better of the S9+ in literally every way possible because it takes the same device and the only changes that are made are all objectively improvements.

If we all liked.the same then the sector would become a stagnant one.

People like to discuss things like this on forums.

    Nature of the beast.

The same way people passionately discuss android vs iOS !

Some of these pi$$ing contests can be quite entertaining.

I've always used the S phones as I had been using iPhones for years.

This will be my first ever Note phone and am looking forward to what it brings to the table.

I agree with several posters in this matter.
    Anyway, I've used the GS4, GS5, GS6 edge and GS7 edge.
They were the best phones I've ever had when I had them, if you know what I mean.
I almost got the Note 7, I really wanted to because I only use one phone for both; work and personal.
The Note 7 looked great, and I felt it was the right move for me. Unfortunately, by the time I decided to go ahead, they pulled the plug on it for the reasons we all know.
So, I kept my GS7 edge until the Note 8, best phone ever!
Now anxiously waiting on the Note 9 to arrive.
