You can also choose to set apps to always sleep, or never, in Device Maintenance > Battery.

Another, more aggressive, with real side effects, is Developer Options > limit how many apps are allowed.

In Apps,
Check both Mobile Date and Battery.
Each has a setting for background activity.

I'm getting an average of 6 1/2 hr on screen time. I use my phone alot . Watching videos and being in the web. People who get significantly less most likely have battery draining apps running in the background even if they are closed out.

Not necessarily. Lots of factors affect battery life. While a bad app could certainly cause issues, more likely though are differences in DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS, and Network strength among users. These are 2 of the biggest battery drainers around. There are many other factors as well ..

For me, it seemed it was a problem in the cache partition.

The standby times on this phone is outstanding. I left my Note 9 at home on Friday to go to work and took my S9+. When I got home after 10 hrs, the battery was at 96% from 100 when I left that morning. I haven't had a battery perform like this since using an iPhone. Last night, I was at 2 days, 7 hrs standby with 5 hrs screen time. I used all of that screen time at the end when it still had about 45% left so in that 45%, it gave me those 5 hrs screen time.

There were a few days last week when I was having some severe battery drainage so I went and reboot to recovery and cleared the cache and my results was in my usage above.

I am happy if I get maybe 4 hrs screen on time. Al I use is Chrome and 10 mins WhatsApp.

Removed all social accounts. Have my screen on 25% brightness. One email account.

Last night I went to bed at 91%. Put it on do not disturb , sync off, woke up 6 hrs later at 77%. Now one hour later another 10% gone with 30 mins use.
You have a rogue app. You need to figure out which one it is. This phone destroys my iPhones I had from the X to the 8 plus.

Hi!
First post here. I'm from Finland.

Love the battery in Note 9. Previosly I had Note 8 and then S9+. This Note 9 battery life kick ass👍

I have ado, wifi, bluetooth. Every app is not allowed to work in background. Autobrightnes on. Most of my usage is web browsing. Sure there is lot of other usage, but web browsing is lot of my sot.

Really a big change to Note 8 and S9+ battery life. Those I have to always charge in middle of day or they were about 10-20% at this simular usage.

Using the phone off and on for a full day today at work, playing music on rides to destination, and actually playing with it at home (media watching and setting up apps), I'm currently in bed unplugged at 40 percent. My iPhone 7 plus would've needed to be charged four hours ago.

To add, I use iris scanner to unlock

I've got mine finely tuned. I love that the standby usage is so low so that I can have all the battery power for when I actually want to use it.

That's exactly what I try to do when doing a fresh set up. What are the steps you took to get your phone the way you want it?

I turned off background data for Facebook and Instagram and a few other apps that use tons of background data. Turning that off doesn't affect the way the app works and notifications still some through. That was pretty much the only adjustments I made. Brightness is at about 55% and I keep LTE on 24/7. I still get about about 4.5-6 hrs screen time.

My battery life is good. Ironically, I find the standby battery less impressive than the "in-use" battery usage. Still it is very good overall, and it seems to be actually improving over time. Who knows. I am happy with it, but perhaps not thrilled yet.

So I'm around 27 hours off charger, 3.5 hours of SOT and I'm at 20%. Is this good? Android system says it's at 15%. It's right under my SOT which is 20%. Is that normal?
