Messaging app separates messages between conversations and contacts, how do I fix this?

So when I have my phone in landscape mode, it goes from just the text message that I had with one person, to a split screen between the conversation and the contacts. I just want the messages that I have flip to landscape mode with one person and not have to see that. How do I get rid of this?

Check in Settings -> More settings. Turn off the "Split view" option.
