Had issues with my Ford Sync and Huawei watch.
Ford Sync kept saying "No Phone Found" and displaying a MAC Address. It was pretty simple to reverse and let the phone search. The Note 9 found the Ford Sync and connected. Works fine.
As for the Huawei watch, it's not a direct sync between the two devices. It's all orchestrated by the Android Wear web site. I kept getting "Can't Find Web Site". Hoping the web site will be back up Monday. In the meantime, the watch is still getting updated from my S6.
This is the first phone I ever got on the release date. But just like laptops and printers, it takes a few weeks getting the software and drivers straightened out.
