Depending on the size and form factor you prefer. Note 9 is outstanding. It is a bit bigger overall than the S9Plus. If you like a big phone, go for it.

Is the battery life a big difference?

Huge difference...with note 9 I have peace of mind of full day battery even with heavy use...with S9+ i use to charge twice a day....plus i love more screen estate and boxy look...and a spen is great and bluetooth feature is awesome...

I have both phones. For the S9+, I have the US unlocked model and it's easily giving me two days of standby with 5-6 hrs screen time.

I have the AT&T Note 9 and it too is easily giving me the same usage stats as my S9+. I do not regret owning both. Amazing performance on both phones.

Is it likely Note 9 will also have a higher trade in value than s9 plus for the s10 next year ?
The Note will likely have a higher trade in value, but if you are going to get the S10 I'd just wait and get it. You will lose quite a bit if you plan on doing a trade in deal. If you don't care about the money then get the Note 9 and enjoy the latest and greatest. I get the Note because it's the Note and has the S-Pen and all the additional features. I don't see the S10 as an option for me personally. If I even get the Note 9 at all, the next phone I'd consider is the Note 10.

I said S10+ not knowing if Note 10 was coming in April, or August, and if Note is your cup of tea.

I would wait unless you've outgrown the S7E and *need* a new phone sooner.

I had the S8+ and Note 8, the Note is worth every penny. Better battery, relocated fingerprint sensor on top of list.

AT&T does terrible on trade-ins. Learned that the $$ way.

So I assume many here had the s8 Plus, then the Note 8 then the S9 Plus and then the Note 9. That's a sh** load of money to spend on phones. I skipped the S9 Plus and glad I did. Note 9 was worth the wait and not spending the money on the s9 plus.

Trade-ins help. Sometimes it's just paying off part of installment plan. But yes being a phoneaholic can rack up a bill.
