    Hey, All...

At least I'm not the only one noticing this, as I have read it on numerous other threads.

The native camera app on the Note 9 seems to be blurring out fur detail in lost processing a majority of the time.... Especially in low light conditions.

Here's a link to the same shot, taken 3 different ways. Auto with Samsung app, pro with Samsung app, and Pixel Camera APK on the Note 9.

I definitely see the difference. You?

I looked at the first set and thought the middle picture, pro setting was the sharpest. But, I didn't see any furring issues, or other problems in any of the pics. I'm viewing on my note 9, not a pc.

Re the second link, it seems to have expired or something. ๐Ÿค”

Also, try clicking on the image ad zooming in on the full resolution version - you'll definitely see the differences...

    Thanks!

There are small differences, but I've seen demo pics posted here that show the problem better (or is that worse). There's definitely a problem with the Note 9 camera app focusing on fur (but it's a really small problem and I don't think they'll get to it).

Have you tried any other camera apps?

    Yes, that worked ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

But, viewing from my note 9 I can't see a blurring. I'll try again next time I'm on my pc ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I've been watching closely for the camera update that is hopefully going to fix the freezing issue and maybe help with some of the blurred details of the photos. It all seems to be software related.

I have been playing around with the camera for a few days while waiting for the update. I found that the Camera FV-5 app will work great for normal photos without having the freeze issue. Also, the blur is not an issue when using this app.

These photos were taken in landscape and then screenshot in portrait. The fur seems very well defined in these shots (if they get distorted by the app, I'll share a link).

Thanks for the update. I have used that same camera app before, it's great.

I'm back on the Pixel 2XL, and here's a low-light fur pic for comparison...

I know my eyes are bad but I usually can pick out a bad picture right away. I really didn't see any major or even minor problem at all. Just some beautiful cats and I don't even like cat's. My wife aka Hawk eyes will be here tomorrow so I'll ask her about it. Otherwise nice pics.

The fur detail is getting lost due to over aggressive noise cancelation to smooth the image over. The Note 9 isn't the only new phone with issues like this.

Does make me wonder how Google managed to create better software than everyone else. I think they are snapping multiple photos in quick succession and merging them to create their low light shots, and doing a great job.
