Is it ok to have screen on for 6 hours straight watching a video or should I manage strain on battery and screen better?

    Shouldn't be an issue

What about "burn-in" from using Waze in the car (also for 6+ hours on a road trip), where the display won't vary as much as watching a movie? My 3-year old Note 5 definitely has screen burn-in from Waze (you can permanently see the pin drop and speed limit icons and even make out words like "miles" near the top of the screen, especially on a white background) but maybe the Note 9 uses a different screen type.

I only experienced burn in when I had brightness at 90%+ left on for couple hours at a time on a static image

I wouldn't leave navigation on that long , but when I use Google maps I turn of the screen and listen to the turn by turn voice

I agree. There is no need to have the screen of for that long when using maps.

I'm not that paranoid, I've used google maps for ~6 hours trips without issues but I wouldn't display a static image with full brightness for more that 10 hours because of burn in concern

We’re not talking watching videos 6 hours a day every day right?

Even if it was everyday, As long as the video is always always moving I don’t really see an issue.

If it was an app like others mention where you plan to have static images stay on parts of the screen for hours like borders or buttons, then you’ll increase your chances of burn in I guess.

My Note8 got screen burn-in from a dozen or so 4-5 hour drives using Google Maps navigation. The phone was windshield-mounted so it always auto-adjusted to full brightness on sunny days. The relatively static bar at the top of the screen got burned in, along with icons on the right edge that stay superimposed over the map. The rest of the screen was ok.

The burn-in was faint and didn't spoil the display of images, but with a uniform background it could be seen.

Careful of burn-in that's all. I always rotate the screen if using navigation app. But also alternate using my OP5T as well.
Had burn on my note 8 and it didn't cost anything to replace it.
Took about an hour and phone was just like new again. Lesson learned though.

Samsung warranty replacement? Was the whole phone replaced, or just the screen?

Id be cautious about any static logos being present on a movie for long durations.
