Swype on Note 9 entering only special characters for certain words.

Having an issue where my Note 9 is randomly swyping in special characters rather than words, as if I've long-pressed a key and then tried to make a word. It's not always, and often once I've gotten the special behavior on a word, it will repeat the same behavior as I repeatedly try to swype in the word, until I remove the special character, and type the word directly, without swyping.

I'm not new to Swype. It's been my primary KB since around 2012 (and most recently on my retired Note 8), so I'm pretty (not completely, mind you) sure it's not something I'm not using correctly. I have this idea that it has something to do with how the Note interprets my finger placement and timing in combination with the current Swype software.

I had hoped the recent update would have helped, but no joy.

Don't use Swype, and I don't usually use swype on any other keyboard, but SwiftKey Keyboard seems to handle my fat fumble-fingers pretty well - just alpha if I'm on the alpha screen.

Swype was discontinued in February of 2018. I used it all the time. I miss it. I'm now using Gboard. It is almost as good--almost.
