My gmail notifications are painfully slow. I have tried all the fixes including making sure the gmail app is not battery optimized.

When I wake up/unlock the phone from sitting, BAM 4-5 emails will pop up sometinessnt 20 minutes before hand. I think it has to do something with android dozing the app.

Does Android P have this issue?

Anyone have this issue to? Or have another idea for a fix?

My iphone gets emails from gmail almost instantly.... REALLY dont want to have to go back to that to have timely emails back.

It's a common issue affecting many Android/Samsung users. I have a Note 9 too, and I have had this problem since the beginning. Unfortunately Google and Samsung won't acknowledge that this is a serious problem. Read the posts in the thread below - basically you can get prompt Gmail notifications by manually disabling Android doze.

Thank you! I dont like the fact you have to do the "fix" every time you power cycle the phone.

Trying the blue mail for now to see if that is better. Anyone have success with bluemail?

There is another thread running with the same question.
It's not just Samsung. My Moto G5 running Oreo and previously Nugget has always had the same problem with Gmail. I'm not experiencing this problem with WhatsApp, notifications are instant..
