Have this Belkin 10W wireless charger and the Note 9 feels like it gets hotter when using this charger vs the Samsung wireless 2018 wireless charger.

Can a charger like this damage the Note 9's battery?

It says Galaxy Note 8 so they are basically saying it's good to go. Some chargers are just going to run hot. That's why the Samsung's latest (the one I got with my 8 during pre-order promo) has fan built in to cool.

Belkin is a reliable brand and should not damage your phone. Only you can judge if it's getting excessively hot, but I would doubt it.

Might want to read this overview. ZDnet is usually good.

I believe the Note 9 can handle up to 15W so you should be good. Even if you find a more powerful one the Note 9 will only allow what it can handle.

I thought you needed 15W or more for fast charging.

And my two Samsung wireless chargers are worth peace if mind. Anker otherwise but not for wireless.

That Belkin unit came out before the S9's and Note 9 so it really may work of course but may not be latest standard or ideal.

One unit I have is USBC on both ends, is Samsung with Fast Charging printed onto the stand.

You're phone will ultimately not be destroyed by it as your phone will probably have some safety mechanisms built in. But more heat will behave the battery a little faster. I'd go with the Samsung version as it has the built in fan.
