Samsung Pay extreme battery drain

This problem seems to have arisen with the Dec. 7 Samsung Pay update. It's another example of a widespread longstanding serious problem that Samsung refuses to acknowledge. (I've been encountering it on my N960U1 too.)

For those having the problem, it doesn't matter if the app is used at all. The battery drain is coming from running in the background.

Counterintuitively, as the article notes, disabling battery optimization for Samsung Pay Framework seems to diminish the problem.

That's good , hasn't affected me either so good sign not everyone experiencing it.

There's a new version of Samsung Pay (3.7.10) that touts unspecified "bug fixes". With the new version, the app's battery usage (so far) is back down to 0.1% (instead of 20-30%).
