Do i was gonna go s10e and i went to swappa and saw the note 9 mint condition barely pushing 450 us.

This phone sold for 1000 dollars a little less than a year ago. I'm frustrated because i don't wanna come out of pocket for a phone but the retail value is garbage beyond belief.

Well for me the Note 9 was a game changer. Almost everything you could want. Yes I also have the S10e as my Daily driver and gave back the S10+. I will never part with the Note 9 and I will continue to purchase the next best thing. Note 9 was and is a beast reguardless what you pay for it. Its will always be a keeper for me and in time will end up in my safe with the rest. Thats how I roll!

The only devices that seem to retain a decent value seem to be iPhone

I have no idea why that is either. I mean Ive had a iphone briefly like about 6 years ago..didn't like it then, don't like it now.

That's true, iPhone holds value well but I got a bit invested in Samsung. I wanted a one handed phone and was ready to ditch the note 9.

    Bit too boxy.

Well, there's no alternate IOS device so that helps keep the price up would be my guess.

Well I hope it will really plummet in price as I plan to get the 512gb/8gb Note 9 around when the 10 is revealed on 7th August.
I'll give the Note 10 a wait until November or Xmas so any bugs are ironed out and make a more informed decision on which model to get

A smartphone depreciates quickly and unpredictably, depending in part on how much better newer models are. If a phone isn't worth $1000 to you, it's a gamble to buy it anyway in the hope that someone will bail you out a year later.

But the retail price is still above $900. You're talking about used price (even if it's purportedly in mint condition), not retail price.

It happens to all Samsung phones you'll find the S10 etc dropping like a stone now you can pick it up brand new at nearly half price on eBay etc.

As much as we all hate it the iPhone keeps its price more than any android phone

Allow me to say its gonna be the best value for money decision that you well ever make.

Screen, battery, performance since im Uber driver I'm a heavy user i crush it with using apps and calls and never crash except when it gets very hot , camera is amazing.

I own it since 8 months and i never regret paying 1000 for it because i will keep it at least for 2 years.

If you dont mind carrying almost 200 gram which its kind of heavy.

    I don't hate it.
I really have no opinion on how well the iPhone holds its value.

I got my Note 9 last November. That may be the newest smartphone I've ever had. Usually I'm one generation behind. I usually just don't want to pay the new price. I haven't bought a phone from the carrier since 2012. Swappa is my source.

Supply and demand. No other alternate source for iOS, so Apple controls the supply. People may not be able to afford a new iOS device so people with used ones can charge almost whatever they want, and if people pay it, the price stays there.

Devices are on a 6 month tech cycle or shorter. You're looking at the future my friend...unfortunately this "hobby" requires a strong constitution, a big shovel to sort out the self proclaimed experts on youtube, and a big wallet.
