Unlocking Att phone

I have a question about this unlocking business.ive never had a phone unlocked before. If I get ATT to unlock this phone am I able to give the phone to my mom to use under Sprint? I had planned on keeping the n9 as a back up phone , but if I'm able to let her get the phone I'd rather do that.

Has to be payed full before they can unlock it, basically you have to own the phone.

And yes, the phone will work on Sprint - but whether Sprint allows you to bring your own phone is another matter. Only Sprint can answer that one. (And a company-owned store would be better to ask at. Most Sprint stores are independents.)
