Welcome to Android Central! Merged your duplicate threads.

Is your phone rooted? Rooted phones usually won't receive OTA updates.

Also, have you tried using either Samsung Smart Switch (SmartSwitch: Install & update or replace firmware) or Odin (http://forums.androidcentral.com/amb...interface.html) to update the firmware?

Rooted means that you gained superuser status, which gives more control of the system. But since you ask, then it's not rooted (unless you got it used from someone else who did root it).

Another possibility is that the phone is a clone or knockoff. Install an app like CPU-Z and tell us what kind of processor it detects. If it's MediaTek, it's a knockoff, and can't be updated.

That pretty much makes it legitimate. Any idea what country it was originally intended for? That might give a clue as to the correct firmware on SamMobile to use.

Hmm. Sorry, but I'm not certain what to recommend next. You might be able to select one of the firmware files in SamMobile, but I'm never sure how important it is to match the PDA and CSC numbers. (I've Googled this at length, and have yet to find a satisfactory answer.)

One of our other members, ironass, is quite good with Samsung devices. Let me see if he can help.

Can you install Phone INFO ★Samsung★, free from the Play Store and post your full, "Product code", details.

Also helpful, would be to enter *#1234# into your phone's key/dial pad and give all the information shown there.

Thanks for the screenshots Sufyan Ishfaq

As Sherlock Holmes might say to Dr Watson... "The explanation is elementary", to your problem.

    Here are the facts...

    1. Your Product code is SM-N915FZWYXEF

    2. The, "XEF", part of the Product code tells me that the phone is running the stock Samsung firmware for the Black Edition of the model, N915FY, on the firmware for France. The firmware is the old, November 2014 release on Android 4.4.4, I believe.

    3. Your, "Version", details are, CSC: N915FOJV1AOA1 tells me that someone, possibly the original vendor, has flashed the Middle East language pack, OJV for the N915F model to the phone. Either that or a highly customised firmware that incorporates elements of both the N915FY and the N915F. This is because the N915FY model was only ever marketed in Europe and never intended for the Middle East. Therefore, this is the only way to get the Middle East language packs on to a European model

    4. Your phone will not update because it is the French Black Edition model, N915FY, that is partially running firmware for the N915F model for the Middle East.

    You now have 3 choices...

    1. For the phone to update automatically in future, you will need to flash, via Odin, the stock Samsung French, Black Edition firmware for the N915FY that matches you phone. This will not have a Middle East language pack.

    2. You can update as above and then download the latest Middle East language pack, (if you can find it), for the N915F and flash it to your phone.

    3. You can leave the phone as it is.

This type of flashing by unscrupulous vendors, particularly in the Middle and Far East, is well known as it allows them to sell phones that are not intended for those regions, (the grey market), and which they may have picked up cheaply. Personally, unless you are a competent and qualified Android flasher, I would leave the phone as it is as any attempts to change it could render it unusable for you.
