I just purchased the Note 10.1 2014 but now thinking about returning it for the Pro. My only concern is the size and weight. How awkward is it to hold for long periods of time.? What about typing on the screen?

I love widgets and the idea of being able to have more widgets on one screen is intriguing. I am just afraid that holding it will become a hassle. This new 10.1 is really nice to hold with one hand.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Also has anyone used a third party launcher on it. I usually use Nova or Next Launcher.

I bought my 12.2 to use for work and it's great for that. For mobile media use and use use on a plane I much prefer my Fire 8.9 HDX. The 12.2 is too big for a coach seat IMO.

I always use Nova. It's just has way more functionality and features over Touchwiz Launcher.

I have both the 10.1 and the Pro. My thought process was, the 10.1 was for couch potato leisure stuff while the Pro was for work stuff.

So of course, I find myself with the Pro more and more on the couch. Yeah, it's a little heavy, but I'm getting used to it. The 10.1 feels like a tiny toy now.

One plus with the 10.1 is it's easier for gaming. Some of the controls are awkward on the 12.2" screen, and holding it for long stretches of time using thumb controls isn't pleasant. But The Room Two? Awesome. Also awesome? Comics and magazines. Drawing apps (more real estate to rest your drawing hand on). And holding in portrait doesn't trigger the capacitive buttons all the time like the 10.1 (they're right where you want to rest your thumb). Multi task button is better than menu.

Luckily, I don't have to choose, but if I had to, I'd keep the Pro.

I love the size:

Either I type exactly as I would on a PC, or, if I'm on a job and I'm standing up, I hold it like a clipboard, use the floating keyboard option and type one handed.
I have zero issue with the weight.
Unlike Bill-E, I find it fine to use on a flight when flying coach. But I am very slim and even the rapidly shrinking coach seats still feel roomy, for me.

Go to Best Buy, they have an entire Samsung section with a big table full of their latest tablets. Grab a seat and play with one for a couple of hours, to get a good feel of it.

The keyboard on the Pro is boss. I read a review that complained about the keyboard being subpar. What a crock - there's simply nothing like it. A full netbook sized keyboard with all the keys I could ever want? It's awesome. I have zero interest in installing SwiftKey. It's the only device I own where I didn't even bother.

Bring back the 10.1, and try the 12.2. If you don't like it you still have 30 days don't you?

In my opinion there's not a one size fits all tablet. I'm lucky to have my Note 3, a 7" Fire HD, an 8.9" Fire HDX, a Samsung 10.1 and the Note Pro 12.2.

I'm typing this at the airport on the Note 3...best size for this situation. If I can keep my eyes open on the flight I'll watch some Orphan Black on the 8.9hdx. The 12.2 will get setup in my hotel room.

Okay so here is my three cents worth:

The 10.1 total size is basically the same size as the 12.2 screen so using that concept it should give you the idea of what would be better. Weight wise it isn't much heavier than ipad Air or probably your 10.1 is. I was surprised at how light it actually is. To make it easier to hold I use a Moko case with the hand strap. I have found that a case with the hand strap makes tablet life so much easier on the joints! I can hold the 12.2 for a long time without tiring regardless of if it is landscape mode or portrait mode. Having said that I do use my ipad mini for the bulk of my reading although reading magazines, comics etc are great on the 12.2. I love the 12.2 for movies and doing other stuff especially with the s pen. The games I play don't require thumbs or multiple finger usage at the same time so can't really help you out there. I do like having the mini and the 12.2 for different things and use both equally.

Thanks you to all of you.
The only games I play on my tablet are puzzle games like the Door so I don't that will be an issue.
I mostly use it for reading magazines, email, Internet and porn, I mean movies....LOL
I really use it for my news stuff also. That is why I love widgets. I can have many sport, tech and news widgets that I can scroll through.
I use Flipboard, Tapatu and other RSS readers.
Also, if I am being completely honest, Having A tablet that no one can assume is an Ipad is also a PLUS.

So my last question is this.
How much is it a pain to carry around compared to a 10 inch
I purchased my tablet at Verizon so Its a 14 day return policy and I am getting close to the 14 days.

Again, Thank you for everyone's help.

It's only a half pound heavier, so I don't even notice the difference. It still fits into my messenger bag (although just barely).

Thanks Fruuk. It crashed on me three times within the first hour so I just took it back and exchanged it. After the first crash, I did a factory reset and it then crashed two more times. Then I noticed that it had a lot of light bleeding in one corner so back it went. Of course they were pout at my verizon store that is a half a mile from me so I drove across town to exchange it.
The little bit that I did use it, I knew that I made the right decision.

I just ordered this case: Amazon.com: rooCASE Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 / Note Pro 12.2 Case - Origami Slim Shell Landscape Portrait Typing 12.2-Inch 12.2" Stand Tablet Case - GRAY (With Auto Wake / Sleep Cover): Baby
I have it for the 10.1 and hoping it will work as well with a bigger tablet.
