Problems moving google store app PALM NOTE files from old to new Note 5

Using Samsung Note 5, needed a replacement phone, another note 5.

Smart Switch moved the app but none of the notes. They are exportable as .xml files, but the phone doesn't have an SD card and I can't identify where internally they are being sent (if indeed they are actually exporting.) I've never been able to figure out which folder they are in on the phone (so I could move to new phone perhaps via Dropbox)

Really like the app for notes, for some reason find S-note icky and loathesome, but will take suggestions for something if no one can help with the move. Solely using this for text files, just need Notepad-like functionality

Unfortunately Smart Switch will not move app files, just the apps themselves. If you can export your notes from the app, can you also name the back up? If so, you can just use the File Manager on your phone to search for the file by name. That way you can locate the back up folder location.
