getting contacts onto SD card

I am going to root my phone but i can't get contacts onto my SD card. For some apps there is a "send to SD card" button lighted, but mine is unlit all the time. So how did the other guy on this forum get them on here...the guy who asked about whether rooting would delete his SD card contents, including contacts?

Your Contacts are backup on in the sync with google so there really is no need to back them up unless you dont use the market and such, if you ever do a factory reset and resync with your google account all your contacts will download right back into your phone, same goes if you got a new phone you put in your gmail and pass and theres all your contacts

Titanium backup is your best bet
Or apk share is ok for apps
For your PC I'd use wondershare mobile go
