data connection constantly cuts out

I bought the skyrocket today and brought it home. I started to play with it and immediately ran into issues with the data connection. Watching the top status bar, I consistently have 3 or 4 bars but the 4g lte symbols is constantly disappearing or switching between 4g and 4g lte.

I downloaded speedtest.net and have yet to complete a test because the data connection disappears mid test.

I am in Houston which should have 4g lte support. The apn is pta. I have spent the last three hours searching the internet for help and haven't found much. Tomorrow at work I will test it out and see if things work better in a different area of town.

I lost all data connectivity after owning it for 5 days. Just did a factory reset and so far so good. Kind of annoying I had to do a reset 5 days in.
