Software/firmware upgrade fail

I keep getting prompt to upgrade. I connect and it never finishes. I have 2.3.4

First you will have to upgrade Samsung kies.
Updating Samsung kies is only possible after you remove it and install a fresh copy by downloading it from Samsung website.
Because the thing which you say never finishes to update is actually Samsung kies and not your firmware.
After uninstalling and reinstalling Samsung kies then update firmware everything will work fine.
Also remember to take backup of your data.
