an issue with the home button(samsung galaxy i9100-G)!! HELP

i'm using a galaxy s2 i9100-G which is running gingerbread 2.3.6 stock,unrooted.. the problem that i'm facing started the other day when i was walking down the road and it started pouring. the phone was in my pocket and it got soaked a bit. i dried it out as quick as i could, but eversince then i have been facing an issue with the home button. initially this blue accu weather screen used to show up, i looked it up on the internet and found out that resetting the phone would help, i did that and it resolved the accu weather issue.but the home button has been getting harder to press.is this a hardware issue or a software issue? any help on this matter would be highly appreciated.
